Short of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion movie, this is just about the best news you could ask for: Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon are reteaming for a new series! (Told ya it would be worth tearing yourself away from the candy corn to drop by The Ausiello Report.) Here are the five things you have to know about the show, and I mean now:1. It's a one-hour drama produced by Twentieth Century Fox to air on Fox. The first of the seven episodes to which the network has committed could premiere as early as spring. 2. It's called Dollhouse because that's the nickname of the high-tech lab where a group of human chalkboards are kept between assignments.3. Human chalkboards?! Yes! What else would you call characters like Dushku's Echo who can be given new memories, skills and even personalities, then stripped of them just as quickly, leaving them virtual children?4. Whedon is the creator, head writer and executive producer, and perhaps in part because Dushku convinced him to do the show, she...

Question: I'm anxious to see Pushing Daisies because it's my kind of show, but in the promos currently airing, it looks oh-so-much like Tru Calling. Many of us loved that show and were sad to see it canceled, so I'm wondering how Daisies is different. Or is it just that Tru came before its time?
Answer: Oh, for the love of... [deep breath]. These two shows are on different planets, creatively. While trying to be respectful to the seemingly undying Tru cult, all I can think that connects the two is the ability of its lead characters to interact with dead people, since (if I remember right) Tru worked in a morgue and got messages from dead people that sent her back to relive the previous day to save lives and right wrongs. Tru Calling, though perhaps not without humor, was basically a supernatural thriller, while Pushing Daisies is a bright, fantastical comedy about a man whose touch can restore the dead to life (briefly), allowing him and a private eye to solve crimes, not turn back

Question: I hear that clips of you and Keri at your baby shower will be included in a special presentation on the MIA Network Feb. 30, following an interview with William Fichtner, where he finally figures out which version of Prison Break you've been watching, and after an interview in which David Boreanaz lovingly discusses Angel and how much he misses it. The whole thing will be preceded by a new episode of Tru Calling.
Answer: Actually, I'm still trying to lock in Fichtner, but the rest is accurate. (You're getting an Ausiello Scoop, Megan. E-mail me your address.)

Question: I wanted to respond to your comments about the idea that perhaps the unaired episodes of canceled shows should not be streamed online, and instead viewers should simply "move on." I've yet to have a show I watch sent to this online exile, but I've had tons of shows of which I was a fan canceled with unaired episodes that later surfaced on DVD. Surely, I was better off seeing the entire glorious season of Wonderfalls rather than "moving on" after the handful that aired, wasn't I? Even without a lick of closure, the unaired Christmas episode of Tru Calling was a gem. And Firefly was only getting better through its unaired episodes. (Of course, in that case we fans finally got our closure in a different medium.) Might the problem that viewers are having this year with the Vanisheds and Kidnappeds of the world have more to do with streaming technology, or the fact that their unaired episodes were themselves not very good, than that the notion of watching unaired eps at all is a ...
