Tales of Cosmo Topper and the affectionate ghosts who haunt him and his house. The series, nominated for an Emmy in 1954, was based on characters from the novels of Thorne Smith. Producers added a third supernatural being to the mix, a Saint Bernard named Neil, who was fond of spirits (the alcoholic kind). Among the show's screenwriters: a young Stephen Sondheim.
