I don't know about everyone out there in TV land, but I'm wary of this edition of the Top Chef franchise. If Top Chef Masters is the spinoff for seasoned veterans, Top Chef: Just Desserts appears to be the spinoff for big babies. It doesn't help that the episodes, for whatever reason, run a long 75 minutes.

Top Chef: Just Desserts Recap: "Cocktail with a Twist" Season 1, Episode 2

In the second episode of Top Chef: Just Desserts, Morgan and Seth have bonded over their heterosexuality. You'll remember Seth as the chef who won last week's Quickfire and distinguishes himself with the use of savory flavors in his desserts. Morgan made that fried chocolate pie that landed him in the bottom three.

Tim is the "go-to" mama. So far, we know that means he makes the coffee, is older, and likes to play the motherly role. Last week, he identified himself as "the snow queen." Speaking of moms, Seth's has been going through physical surgeries and he wants to win the title of Top Chef for her.

Cut to swearing — lots and lots of swearing. To hear the contestants on Top Chef's sweets-centered spinoff Just Desserts tell it, pastry chefs are the worst kind of temperamental artiste — Type-A, anal retentive, extra catty. They're responsible for a meal's grand finale, from candied confections to decadent showstoppers, so cross them at your peril.
