A fact-based cop show about maverick Newark, N.J., detective Dave Toma. Star Tony Musante didn't take to the rigors of shooting a weekly series, so he left after one season. ABC planned to continue with Robert Blake, but he suggested a title change and a character rewrite and the show was reborn as `Baretta.' The real David Toma appeared in a number of episodes, usually in disguise.
