"If you're a DC Comics fan this is the best news of all time," says Geoff Johns, chief creative officer for DC Entertainment, with only a slight hint of hyperbole. Proving that you can't have too much '80s nostalgia, Warner Bros. Animation has announced that it is producing an updated version of the animated series ThunderCats, set to premiere on Cartoon Network in 2011.
Warners is partnering with and Japanese animators Studio4°C on the series, which will have an anime style. Like the original '80s version, this new ThunderCats stars a group of feline-like aliens.
Per a Warner Bros. press release, the show will be "a sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes... As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode."
