The Robin Hood legend got a zany treatment in this Mel Brooks spoof, in which the Sherwood Forest hero wasn't especially bright, Prince John was gay and Alan-a-Dale came off like a low-rent lounge act. Sid Caesar (for whom Brooks had written on `Your Show of Shows') appeared in one episode as a diplomat, and Marty Feldman directed Dudley Moore (as an oil sheik) in another. The series died too quickly, but Brooks resurrected the idea in the 1993 movie `Robin Hood: Men in Tights.'
