The X Factor's Most Tearful Episode Yet Season 1, Episode 22

Is there a better way to open tonight's elimination than with Lenny Kravitz? Don't think so. Also of note: this guy doesn't age. He's 47. Steve polls the judges to get a feel for their favorite performances last night. They unanimously agree on Chris Rene, except for Paula who is incapable of making a decision one way or another.

They then waste everyone's time take us "behind the scenes" so we can see how many hair and makeup artists it takes to get the performers except for Josh looking halfway decent.

The first performer to make it through is Josh Krajcik, followed by Chris Rene.

We're left waiting in suspense, but Mary J. Blige calms our nerves. And now it's two for two with legendary guest performers tonight.

Melanie Amaro is the third act voted through (way to go, America!), so we're left with Rachel and Marcus who must now sing for their lives. Marcus has become accustomed to nailing these performances, so it's safe to say he'll be saved.

Coincidentally enough, he performs Mary J. Blige's "I'm Goin' Down." It's a really solid showing, and a really tough act for Rachel to follow...but WOW does she rise to the occasion! She goes with an Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind," and it's arguably her best to date — she's so passionate, she's close to tears during the entire performance.

Now it's time for the judges to cast their votes. LA stays loyal to Marcus, Simon does the same with Rachel. Paula — makes a decision! She sends home Marcus...and now it's up to Nicole. She furrows her brow and pulls the Paula move by sending home Rachel, therefore causing a deadlock.

Ultimately the audience sends home Rachel and she looks like she's seen a ghost, before collapsing to the floor in hysterics and screaming "Mommy!" It's understandable because she's 13 or whatever, but watching a kid have a complete breakdown on TV isn't fun for anyone. Maybe there should be an age limit in this competition after all.

What do you guys think? Sad to see Rachel go, or was it her time? Did you have a breakdown like she did? Let us know in the comments!
