Question: True Detective is by far my new favorite show! The acting, storyline, intensity (especially last week's episode on Feb. 9) is incredible!
I've heard that this is just a miniseries. However, with the good ratings and reviews as it is getting, any word on a possible renewal of a second season? - Mike

Matt Roush: Though it hasn't been officially renewed yet, that seems to be just a formality at this point, especially since HBO has signed the show's creator Nic Pizzolatto to a two-year deal. Which means more True Detective, although whatever happens, it will be a very different True Detective in seasons to come. Because this is one of those franchises that occupies the territory somewhere between miniseries and anthology, not unlike American Horror Story but potentially with less of a repertory ensemble feel. If/when True Detective returns, it will be with new stars, new characters, a new locale and new focus, so don't get too attached to Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, although I understand why you would be.

Sullivan & Son’s Steve Byrne on Leaving Stand-Up, Cheers Comparisons and Oasis

Steve Byrne

Despite the fact that they work on the set of a (fake) bar, the cast of TBS' new comedy, Sullivan & Son know to keep things professional. But after closing time, all bets are off. Especially if Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger" comes on the jukebox.

"We did this DJ junket last weekend, and we all met at this restaurant. I asked the DJ to play it, and myself and the rest of the cast stood around this fountain and sang that song. [Co-star] Owen Benjamin ended up jumping into the fountain and splashing everybody," co-creator, executive producer and star Steve Byrne tells TVGuide.com. "That's when the booze was kicking in."

Premise: Wistful and whimsical nostalgia about a 12-year-old boy coming of age in the late 1960s and early '70s, this became a viewer favorite subsequent to its premiere following the 1988 Super Bowl. The Emmy-winning series chronicles Kevin Arnold's growing pains in a turbulent period of U.S. history and weighs his relationships with family, friends and especially the winsome Winnie next door. The pensive, witty narration by the adult Kevin is voiced by Daniel Stern.
