Premise: A stellar cast and a strong script greatly enhance this uplifting fact-based drama set in 1969 about a teacher, Pat Conroy (Jeff Hephner), who accepts a position on a remote island off the South Carolina coast where the kids are barely literate and are used to the strict teaching of a stern principal (Alfre Woodard).
