Pan Am, GCB, Missing

ABC's Pan Am has finally been officially grounded.

On the heels of ordering nine new series Friday, the Alphabet officially canceled the high-flying 1960s soap after pulling it off the schedule in February after airing only 14 episodes.

Save These Shows: 14 Bubble Shows We Hope Will Survive

Community, 30 Rock, Touch

This time of year can be brutal for TV fans. In the next few weeks, a number of shows will be canceled to make room for fall's new kids. The sad reality is that for every The Playboy Club or Charlie's Angels sent to the TV graveyard with little to no fuss, there's a handful of beloved shows that we're not ready to part with just yet. Behold, here are the shows we're desperately hoping the execs will give one more chance. (Click here to see our picks in photo gallery form!)

32 Bubble Shows: Which will survive?

30 Rock
(NBC)
So Alec Baldwin continues to announce he's leaving the show. So viewership is, OK, the smallest it's ever been. So it isn't exactly a spring chicken, having been on the air for six seasons. So? So what! It's still, for our money, one of the sharpest comedies on network television, with a top-tier cast able to handle Tina Fey's fast and furious funnies, and TV's best guest stars, who just love to come and play (and play against type — More. Jon. Hamm. Please.) Please, NBC sirs, can we have s'more?... read more

As Netflix Talks End, Terra Nova Looks Officially Over

Terra Nova

The dinos of Terra Nova are now even more extinct. Despite an 11th hour attempt by Netflix to keep the show alive, a deal could not be reached and the show's producers are ready to throw in the towel.

Netflix was interested in the show, and talks had been ongoing with 20th Century Fox TV to keep Terra Nova alive. But sticking points began to emerge — and not just production costs. As a result, at least two insiders have confirmed to TV Guide Magazine that it's all over for Terra Nova.

Top Moments: Walking Dead's Killer Arrival and Jon Hamm Gets Wet with Jimmy Fallon

Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon

Our top moments of the week:

15. Best Bombshell, Part I:
On the Switched at Birth season finale, just hours after Regina goes on a date with another man and seems poised to finally get over her no-good baby daddy, John tells her that the best way to save Angelo from deportation would be to marry him. Hm, we're pretty sure getting married isn't in the "Getting Over Your Ex" handbook.

14. Biggest Head-scratcher: The Voice coach Cee Lo Green is the most daring of the show's four mentors, but sometimes he pushes the envelope a little too much for our taste. When he pits arrogant... read more

Thursday TV in Review: Touch, Awake, Community, Archer

David Mazouz, Kiefer Sutherland

Anyone who thinks TV isn't trying hard enough to raise the bar this midseason should check out tonight's most distinctive shows. With the official series launch of Fox's fantastical Touch (9/8c) and another fascinating episode of NBC's mystifying Awake (10/9c), I imagine some will maintain that they may be trying a little too hard.

It's probably fair to wonder if Fox is touched in the head for going forward with a show as out-there as Touch. This hasn't been an easy time for truly offbeat shows to gain traction, as risk-takers including Smash, The River and Awake have struggled in the ratings, with critics eager to point out their obvious flaws while often undervaluing the ambition it took to put ...

Ratings: NCIS Returns to Season Low; Cougar Town Up Slightly

NCIS

NCIS returned Tuesday from its three-week break to a season low, while Cougar Town saw its best numbers in a month.

The drama drew 18.6 million viewers and a 3.3 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic — its lowest rating all season — but, as usual, it was still the night's top show. NCIS: Los Angeles (16.06 million, 2.8) also slipped ...

Critic's Notebook: Finale Roundup (River, Southland) and a Bent New Comedy

Bruce Greenwood, Eloise Mumford, Joe Anderson

A mere two nights after The Walking Dead finale shattered cable ratings records, and more than a few nerves, with its zombie shooting gallery at Hershel's now-abandoned farm, two more dynamic series signed off for the season Tuesday night — hopefully not for good (though one seems a likely goner) — giving us some fun and tense times. Sometimes both at once.

Ratings: Fashion Star Opens to Soft Numbers

Fashion Star

Fashion Star didn't find any runway success Tuesday night.

The reality show's 90-minute premiere opened to 4.5 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demo. Although it did manage to win the demo against a new Body of Proof (7.28 million, 1.4) and ...
