Episode Synopsis: To rehabilitate after the Guadalcanal campaign, the 1st Marine Division arrive in Melbourne in January 1943, where Leckie develops a close relationship with a Greek-Australian woman and her family. Meanwhile, Basilone receives the Medal of Honor, but he is reluctant to embark on his next assignment of selling war bonds back in the U.S. Cowritten by George Pelecanos and Michelle Ashford. Premise: A 10-part miniseries about U.S. Marines fighting the Japanese in the Pacific in World War II begins in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor and ends with their return home in 1945. Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman are the executive producers.
