Although some viewers may be sad to see HBO's The Newsroom go with an abbreviated third and final season, at least one cast member is fine with it.
Not everyone knows Aaron Sorkin's name, but they've almost certainly heard his trademark rich and frenetic dialogue. The creator and writer of The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The Newsroom is busy wrapping up the final season of the latter, and once that's done, his television career may fade to black.
Jeff Daniels, Sam Waterston
Given the anticipatory hype that preceded the 2012 debut of HBO's The Newsroom, it would have been hard to predict that the Aaron Sorkindrama would end the way it is — with a truncated third and final season that begins Sunday.
After two up-and-down years — the first season was met with decidedly harsh reviews, while the second was received more warmly despite some persisting flaws —and a very tidy Season 2 finale, it seemed Sorkin might be ready to just move on to something else. But after negotiating with HBO and bringing The Office's Paul Lieberstein on board, Sorkin & Co. decided they weren't quite finished...
Valerie Cherish is forever seeking the most flattering light — from the cameras of the hapless reality-TV crew that surround her, from the two-faced Hollywood cronies who mock her, from life itself — and the tragic comedy of HBO's The Comeback, making its own most-welcome comeback (Sunday, 10/9c) after nearly a decade off the air, is that she so rarely finds it...

Now that Jake has been arrested, please tell me that Olivia will finally find out that Rowan was behind Jerry's death on Scandal. — Denise
Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that reveal is coming any time soon. "You always think it can't go on any longer, but they twist it in a way you didn't even think of," star Brian Letscher, who plays Tom, teases of the (inevitable?) reveal. "Rowan is a master manipulator .... and the ripple effects of Tom [saying Jake ordered him to kill Jerry] affect a lot of people in ways he never imagined."
Got anything about the final season of The Newsroom? — Ashley
The season premiere is set around the events of the Boston Marathon bombing and, owing to ACN's screw-up with the Operation Genoa story last season, everyone is appropriately gun shy about reporting the "facts" of the story too quickly...
A new trailer for the third and final season of HBO's The Newsroom indicates the series will cover actual news events during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, as well as a fictionalized version of the WikiLeaks scandal.
No matter how you feel about HBO's The Newsroom, I think we can all agree that the drama's Season 3 teaser—which features a copy machine spitting out script pages—is rather pretentious.
Fall TV: Must-see new shows
Naturally, that makes the new trailer for The CW's Veronica Mars spin-off web series Play It Again, Dick—which pokes fun at The Newsroom's with its own take on the copy machine clip...
Mark your calendars: The Comeback, The Newsroom and Getting On will all return on Sunday, Nov. 9, HBO announced Tuesday.

In the not-so-distant future, an astronaut returns from space to shockingly discover that she's pregnant — which wouldn't seem so weird if she hadn't been gone for 13 months on a solo mission. The question of what's inside of her and how it got there is the mystery at the center of CBS' new drama Extant.
Hailing from newcomer Mickey Fisher and Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV, the drama finds infertile astronaut Molly Woods (Halle Berry) beyond surprised and rightfully frightened upon the discovery that she's an incubator for...
