Ratings: The Masters Lifts CBS; Celebrity Apprentice Rises

The Masters boosted CBS to a win Sunday.

The dramatic final round, which saw Adam Scott defeat Angel Cabrera in a two-hole sudden-death playoff, delayed CBS' prime-time lineup by 57 minutes, but lifted every show for an average of 12.4 million viewers and a 2.6 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic for the night. (Preliminary numbers are not available for The Mentalist, which aired after 11 p.m. ET.)

There may be no better opportunity for a first-time winner to take home the Masters crown this year. "Many of the past champions aren't in good form, so watch out for the guys that haven't won or performed well at Augusta before," says CBS golf analyst Ian Baker-Finch. Other highlights include Ullman as Texas-ranch retiree Laura Bush presiding over a garage sale featuring "doodads and objets d'art" from her White House stay, and a send-up of Celine Dion doing post-Katrina calamity cleanup in New Orleans.

The Masters: Can Anyone Stop Tiger?

The 2008 Masters — beginning Thursday — carries some impressive numbers. This will be CBS’ 53rd straight year of televising golf’s most megawatt major. The network has eight hours of coverage during the last two rounds at Augusta National Golf Club, on Saturday (April 12, 3:30 pm/ET) and Sunday (April 13, 2:30 pm/ET). ESPN is making its Masters debut this year with first- and second-round coverage Thursday and Friday (April 10 and 11, 4 pm/ET).Online coverage at includes over 48 hours of live video throughout the four-day event. This includes, for the first time, live looks from the 15th and 16th holes, adding to the successful live views from Amen Corner (11th, 12th and 13th holes), which have been streamed since 2006. Premise: Final-round play in Augusta, Ga. Adam Scott got his first major victory in this event last year, defeating Angel Cabrera on the second hole of sudden death. He became the first Australian golfer to win the tournament.
