The Americanos Concert

First Aired: September 29, 1999

Gloria Estefan and Jose Feliciano headline “The Americanos Concert,” which celebrates the evolution and diversity of Latin music. Conceived by host-narrator Edward James Olmos, the concert also features mambo king Israel Lopez “Cachao,” jazz clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera and flutist Nestor Torres, merengue singer Juan Luis Guerra, the mariachi band Los Camperos de nati Cano, the folk group Conjuto Hueypan and singer Susana Baca. Bridging the segments with their drums: Sheila E., and her brother and father, Juan and Pete Escovedo.
