The Hills Episode Recap: "Father of the Bride" Season 5, Episode 8

Heidi's biological dad Bill is in town, and he's a gun-toting cowboy who's never met one of his daughter's significant others before. When Bill shows up to lunch with the couple, Spencer admits that he's on his best behavior since his falling out with Darlene, Heidi's mom. Later, Spencer and the cowboy go on a walk where Bill asks him about his intentions with Heidi. Spencer wants to marry her, as we all know in the real world, since Spencer and Heidi were married before this episode aired. Bill tells Spencer to treat Heidi well and be there for her, and "remember that your father-in-law carries a very large gun."

Audrina is working on The White Tie Affair music shoot and thinks the lead singer, Chris, is pretty cute. But "guys in bands are so promiscuous," she says. Stephanie stops by because in her last meeting with the band she hit it off with Sean, the guitarist. But then the four go out and Sean drops what Stephanie calls "the gnarliest bomb": he has a live-in girlfriend. Stephanie and Audrina take off.

Stephanie's luck gets no better when she shows up at work only to be fired by Lauren. Although Lauren softens the blow by saying that Kelly just doesn't have time to train anyone right now, Stephanie knows the real deal and cries. Lauren feels awful.

Later, at the Santa Monica Pier, Spencer and Heidi take a ride on the Ferris wheel. "Oh, Spencie," Heidi exclaims when they stop at the top. (Um, did she really just call him Spencie?) Spencie tells Heidi he has her father's permission to marry her. She's a bit hesitant and tells him first he needs to apologize to Darlene and make up with Lauren. Also, Heidi wants a big princess wedding. Spencer tells her he loves her more than anything and is ready to meet all her demands. With that, he pulls out a huge rock and asks her to marry him. "This makes up for a lot," Heidi gushes at the sight of the ring, but she reminds Spencie marriage is "til death do us part, not divorce do us part."

"What's divorce?" he says.

And with that, Speidi is engaged...again.

I'd ask if you think they'll go through it, but we already know they did. So instead I'll ask this: Do you think they'll last?
