“Don’t Act Innocent…” Season 4, Episode 8

This week on The Hills, Lauren may finally have learned her lesson. Can Stephanie really be trusted or has Brody been right all along? And on the Speidi front, Mom Darlene is in town to shake things up and set her daughter straight. Did someone finally get through to Heidi? Keep reading to find out. While Lauren and Whitney are having a training session, they discuss the Stephanie and Doug situation. Lauren explains to Whitney how everything went down and the trainer, who is smokin' hot but also smart, points out that you don't go out with your friend's ex. Things are awkward between Stephanie and Lauren who bluntly she asks her what she's doing with Doug. Stephanie claims that he was using her to get back at Lauren yet she's still going to his party. The whole story is completely shady and I don't think Lauren is buying it. Meanwhile it's Heidi's birthday and Holly is back in the picture getting ready for her surprise. After a knock at the door it's revealed that their mom, Darlene, is in town to celebrate. While it began as a cheerful moment it quickly turned to uncomfortable. Heidi had forgotten to mention that she and Spencer were living together and her mom, who found out from Holly, was not too thrilled. Perhaps she can get to know her daughter's BF while she's there so she invites Spencer out to lunch. This is not going to be pleasant. They head to Bloom Café where Spencer doesn't even try to make himself look good. He admits that he wanted Holly out and loves that Heidi doesn't need to call her mom to get approval over her decisions. Darlene tells him that he's very controlling and manipulative and when he responds by calling her "my dear" she tells him he's condescending, rude and hostile. Spencer is just dreadful but maybe this is what Dar needed to see to get her daughter out of there. The next day, Heidi and Darlene lunch at Tart. Heidi explains that she wants to make decisions for herself but Darlene says she's her mother and should be involved. She also tells her that Spencer was rude and that before him, they never argued like that. Then she starts crying and says it's hard for her, she doesn't want to lose her, and she just wants her to be happy. Darlene please grab your daughter and take her far, far away. Doug's bbq is pretty much a disaster as planned. Brody flat out tells her that he was right by telling Lauren shouldn't Stephanie couldn't be trusted. He tells her, "Don't pretend to be innocent when you're not." It was harsh but Stephanie pretty much asked for that by showing up. Doug, who was revealed as a complete jerk this week, keeps going back and forth. While he assured Steph the other night that it's fine that they're friends and acted all flirty, he then shows his buddy Brody all her text messages and claims she wants him and he wants none of it. To make matters worse Stephanie, who has hidden in Doug's room (and can we talk about all the posters of himself everywhere?) overhears him telling the group that he just wanted to help a lost little girl by befriending her. Lauren stepping responds "that for someone who did nothing wrong, you've spent a long time defending it." Then he calls her his ex-fling and with that, Lauren peaces out. She checks in on Stephanie who says she'll never hang out with Doug or Brody again (yeah right). Lauren tells her they shouldn't have done what they did but it's over and Steph has nothing to say but "I'm so sorry." Lauren walks out and we're left hanging. Will she forgive her or is she over the friendship? Next week Audrina has a new boy and Heidi tries to connect with Lauren but Spencer is in the way.
