"When One Door Closes..." Season 3, Episode 18

What a roller coaster ride this season turned out to be. And what a great ending. All this upheaval - both good and bad - is aching to be discussed. Whitney and Lauren's boss Lisa is a very interesting woman. Mostly I think she comes off as a hardass but we got a little peek behind the curtain tonight. She told Lauren she ran away from home at fifteen to go to Paris. It seems like she's not the kind of person to share that information with just anyone and I'm glad she confided in Lauren. I'm sure she and Whitney will prove to be their usual helpful selves at the fashion show there. I think Lauren took too many shoes to Paris but that's just me. Some of you probably thought she didn't take enough. I kind of wanted to see her clothes but I guess I'll have to wait for the next season to find out what she took. And I think this trip can only be good for Lauren and Whitney's friendship. One relationship I hope is over for good is Heidi and Spencer's. I will not bore you by enumerating (again) all the reasons I'm not a fan of Spencer. I'm also not a fan of Heidi. Together they wreaked some serious havoc and it could be cosmic justice that separated them. I will say this in Heidi's defense: Spencer should not have walked out on her. If this relationship is as important to him as he claims, he's got to learn to stick around through the fights and the hard times. And was it creative editing or Heidi playing games when Kimberly told Spencer Heidi went home early? The very next shot was of Heidi in her office. It would have been nice for Spencer to call ahead and ask if he could stop by but if Heidi refused to see him when she was there, she's being just as juvenile as he is. And why does she keep saying she gave up everything for Spencer? Even if that's true it was her choice. She chose Spencer over both her work and personal relationships. She's got to deal with those consequences. I also want to touch on Lauren and Brody's relationship. I understand that Lauren wants him to stop looking at other girls while they're out together and it probably doesn't instill too much confidence in them as a couple when Brody's cell phone is a glorified little black book. But she's got to stop talking over him and being so defensive when he's trying to talk to her about where they are. I don't think Lauren really wants a relationship with Brody. I think she knows he's a player and she's afraid of getting hurt. There were a few times that he seemed like he was trying to tell her how he felt. I think he was feeling her out, seeing if she wanted to be exclusive but Lauren shut him down pretty hard. Maybe they should both realize they're better as friends. If that's the case though, they need to move on and treat each other just as friends. That means no benefits. Also, it seems like Lauren has moved from blaming Jason for a missed opportunity in Paris last year to accepting that it was her bad decisions that got her where she was. She blamed him at the beginning of the episode but it seemed like she was taking the responsibility near the end. Now she's got a chance to prove herself to her boss. I hope she realizes what a big opportunity that is. Fun locales: Who's on Third Spencer and Stephanie meet to discuss the possible demise of Spencer and Heidi. I still think Stephanie did the right thing in telling Spencer Heidi's concerns. Blood's thicker than water. The Foundry The location of Lauren and Spencer's "date." I only use quotes because who the heck knows what they're doing. I'm not even sure if they know. Thoughts? Were you surprised by anything? What are your predictions for next year?
