New Season Reviews: The Flash, Town of the Living Dead

"Awesome," says the Flash (aka Barry Allen, an adork-able CSI lab nerd), catching his breath after his first mad dash through Central City in fast-forward motion, giving new meaning to happy feet. "Woo-hoo!" he screams during his first supervised test run. "Cool," he reflects later upon his gift of speed, a sentiment echoed by his crime-fighting mentor Arrow, from whose show he is triumphantly spinning off. Couldn't agree more.

Question: With the passing of the legendary TV talents Robin Williams and James Garner, don't you think it would be remiss if the upcoming Emmys didn't do a clips tribute to both of them? Awards shows have an unfortunate habit of dedicating chunks of time to a theme or subject that either makes no sense or ends up really boring. But these two gentlemen, who broke character boundaries and were excellent actors outside their niche personas, deserve special recognition. I just hope the producers of that upcoming show have the smarts to do something special, outside of the "In Memoriam" roll call. Your thoughts? — Karen

CW Announces Fall Premiere Dates for Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, The Flash and More

The CW has revealed its fall premiere dates, including for returning shows The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural, as well as new series The Flash and Jane the Virgin.

After two nights of the network airing the iHeartRadio Music Festival, The Vampire Diaries will return Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c, followed by sophomore drama Reign at 9/8c.

Premise: Tales of comic-strip hero Barry Allen, a police scientist who accidentally gains super speed, and uses it to fight crime in Central City. The series wasn't exactly gone in a flash (it lasted a season), but its bright style and impressive special effects rated it a better run.
