The Biggest Loser Episode Recap: Week 3 Season 8, Episode 3

After the victory of losing 155 pounds and having no elimination, the players soon find out that the celebration won't be lasting too long as Alison announces it's "would you rather" week. They'll have plenty of decisions to make that could change the entire competition, beginning with the first choice of trading in the trainers for a two-pound advantage. Seems like a huge thing to give up in order for two measly pounds at weigh-in, but clearly Tracy from the Purple Team doesn't think so. While the other players were waiting for Ali to raise the stakes with a higher offering, Tracy jumped at the chance to have an advantage her competitors wouldn't. And her teammate Coach Mo is not so thrilled with her decision.

Bob and Jillian walk into the house and immediately find out what happened. Let's just say they're speechless... and then pissed. They send everyone but Purple to the gym and when they start questioning Tracy's decision, she starts to cry. Jillian asks her to stop and think about the choices she makes when she's in panic mode and Tracy agrees.

On the injury front, Abby is suffering from shin splints and a MRI reveals she has a stress fracture. This means only workouts in the pool and for now, no land-based exercise. She tells Dr. H. that she won't give up because this is nothing compared to what she's faced in her life. She's seriously inspiring.

This week the teams are treated to their first temptation challenge. "Would you rather control your diet or control this game?" Ali asks them. The premise is simple. In front of each person is a tray of cupcakes and whoever eats the most in 10 minutes gets an advantage. And remember, they can't see what the others are doing. All they can do is taunt their opponents and shout at their teammates. But Antoine and Tracy decide to chow down. And how adorable is Antoine's little dance! When the 10 minutes are up, Alison announces who partook in the temptation, and that Tracy wins with four eaten cupcakes. She now gets to decide which player from each team will have their poundage counted at the weigh-in. Tracy says she's shocked because she wasn't prepared to win, so I have to wonder then: Why do it?

Once again, the players must inform the trainers about the temptation and when Bob asks, "Who in the world would've done this?" Tracy raises her hand. She's creating enemies left and right, starting with Jill who's infuriated she took an hour to talk to her instead of working everyone else out, and then Tracy totally ignored her advice for game play. "I think this girl is crazy; she's bananas" Jillian says. Love it.

The competition for immunity continues with the theme of choices. They must carry a specific amount of weight up an incline, but can decide whether to do it in five-pound increments (which are closer to the incline) or carry the bricks that come in a higher-pound increment, but are farther away. Green wins and everyone else works to finish. And kudos to the Pink ladies for coming in second.

The weigh-in is quite tense. Two teams fall below the yellow line, and the remaining duos decide which of the two will go home. Jillian speaks up and starts berating Tracy for her "crappy decision." "I don't think you learned anything from this; you're full of sh--" Jill says to Tracy.

Here's how the weigh-in goes down:

Green Team:
Allen and Abby lose 4 and 5 pounds (they have immunity)
Black Team:
Julio loses 7 pounds, 1.87 percent
Brown Team:
Liz and Danny lose 4 and 4 pounds. Tracy chooses Liz to count, with 1.62 percent
Blue Team:
Rudy and Dina lose 12 and 3 pounds. Tracy chooses Rudy, 3 percent
Pink Team:
Amanda and Rebecca lose 5 and 7 pounds. Tracy chooses Amanda, 2.08 percent
Red Team:
Antoine and Sean lose 11 and 7 pounds. Tracy chooses Sean, 1.46 percent
Orange Team:
Daniel and Shay lose 6 and 6 pounds. Tracy chooses Shay, 1.35 percent
Purple Team:
Tracy and Mo lose 11 and 1 pounds. Tracy chooses herself

Also during the weigh-in: Jillian curses (you could hear a pin drop) when Tracy loses 11 pounds to stay above the yellow line. Jillian also comments that this was one of the nastiest forms of game play she's maybe ever seen.

So Red and Orange are up for elimination and it's one of the most tearful deliberations I've seen. Shay, the largest contestant in history, pleads to stay. Her opponent, Antoine, says that although he'd give anything to stay, he knows that he and his partner,Sean, have strong support systems at home, which is key. Shay does not. Sean concurs that Shay needs to stay and so when the votes conclude, Red is sent home. Updates tell us that Sean plans to name his new baby girl Jillian, and Antoine looks fabulous, having lost 105 pounds. We all knew he was dating Alexandra after her revealing interview, but seeing them together and in love is adorable.

Do you agree with the game-play choices Tracy made? Check back later for my Q&A with the eliminated Team Red.
