The Biggest Loser: Couples Episode Recap: Week 9 Season 9, Episode 9

Week 9 begins with a pop trivia challenge that has a lofty reward: a night away from the ranch at the Four Seasons. After a few standard nutrition questions, like which food is full of omega-3 fatty acids, the Blue team gets the final question right. Ironically, it's the team of mostly men that get to spend the day at the spa. To make matters worse for Black, they get stuck cleaning the kitchen and the gym. But leave it to Jillian to be the voice of reason. "You didn't come here to go to the Four Seasons, you came here to get 200 pounds off your ass," she says. Love her.

Ashley, meanwhile, has a breakdown about Cheryl leaving, since it means she'll have to go back to caring for her mom, Sherry, for whom she's cared since her father died. Jillian encourages Ashley to tell her mother about the pressure she's feeling. Sherry recognizes it's a big moment for her daughter and doesn't want Ashley to take care of her anymore.

Curtis Stone is back at the ranch for this week's challenge, but Michael from the Blue team is missing. He had a family emergency with his grandmother and had to go home. (Don't worry, he'll be back.) Unfortunately for the Blue team, it's a cooking challenge and Michael was their ranch chef. Each team must make an appetizer, entrée and dessert using only 12 ingredients that they'll choose in only 30 minutes. The winner will receive a huge 5-pound advantage. The meals look good and the first course goes to the Black team for their shrimp ceviche that only has 26 calories. Black is shocked to find out that their salmon and wild rice dish has a whopping 557 calories. Blue's pork tenderloin is significantly less at 297 calories, so they nab the win. It all comes down to dessert. While both look pretty tasty, Black wins with their 92-calorie pear-and-goat-cheese dish.

Michael returns for the weigh-in and the Black team is up first. Drea loses 5 pounds, Sam loses 8 pounds, Ashley loses 7 pounds, Sherry loses 3 pounds and Stephanie loses 2 pounds. With their 5-pound advantage, Black loses a combined total of 2.50 percent.

Blue is up next. Lance loses 8 pounds, Daris loses 10 pounds and Koli loses 9 pounds, and is extremely emotional. He finally gets below 300 and even Sam runs up to hug him as pretty much the entire room is weeping. Next up is O'Neal. He loses 9 pounds, his daughter, Sunshine, also loses 9 pounds and with only one person left to weigh in, the teams are tied. Michael, who easily could have gained weight during his brief stay at home, actually loses 11 pounds. So although Black had a huge advantage, Blue wins after their combined total weight loss is 3.11 percent.

The vote comes down to Drea and Sherry, with Stephanie casting the deciding vote to send mama Sherry home. Although Sherry is sad to leave, she says she's become an entirely new person and has found life and energy she didn't know she had. Back at home, she looks amazing! She's lost 80 pounds and now knows life is all about the journey... "and I've had an amazing journey," she says.
