The Biggest Loser Episode Recap: Week 5 Season 10, Episode 5

On this week's Biggest Loser, five people who didn't make the original cut return for their shot back on campus.

Corey, Anna, Montina, Sandy, and Shanna are back, but only the player with the highest percentage of weight-loss will be back in the game.

Corey is up first. He was only 20 yards from the finish line in Episode 1 when he dropped to the ground. He started out at 391 pounds and is now 354 pounds. He's lost 37 pounds, 9.46 percent.

Shanna has been fighting breast cancer and is a true survivor. She was 242 pounds when she tried out and is now 221 pounds. She has a 21-pound loss, 8.68 percent.

Montina says she made her trainer pull the stepper out until she could do 500 in under 20 minutes. She was 287 pounds, and is now 270 pounds. She's lost 17 pounds.

Sandy talks about her brother who died recently at the age of 35 and used to wear a Biggest Loser shirt all the time. She doesn't want the same fate as him. She was 259 pounds and is now 234 pounds. A 25-pound loss, 9.65 percent.

Anna was 330 pounds when she first stepped on the scale. She's now 291 pounds and has lost 39 pounds, 11.82 percent. She'll be the one to rejoin the players.

Alison announces that the time has come to go Blue vs. Black. Anna, as the newbie, gets to choose who will be on what team. Six will go with Bob's Blue team, six with Jillian's Black. One player will have immunity for the week and join whichever is the losing team this week. Anna meets with everyone individually and realizes that trying to make everyone happy is not easy.

Here are the teams:

Blue/Bob- Jessica, Aaron, Lisa, Mark, Jesse, Adam

Black/Jillian- Rick, Ada, Frado, Brendan, Elizabeth, Anna

Anna wants to be with Jillian so she puts herself on the Black team and gives Patrick immunity.

Everyone is shocked that she didn't choose to save herself, but she tells Jill that she didn't want to run the risk of not getting her as a trainer. "It's going to be so hard being mean to her now," Jill says.

This week's challenge is hardcore and filled with lots of different tasks. Both Blue and Black run to the first station and have to answer which dish -- crab salad or a veggie terrine -- has fewer calories. Surprisingly, it's the crab salad so Blue receives a penalty of doing step-ups. At another task, Frado gets a question wrong and has to carry a bucket of ice cream. The final stop is choosing how many calories are in a slab of meat lasagna. It's only 804 (I thought it would be more) and both teams get it wrong. They must climb 21 flights of stairs. It's a close call, but Black wins. They not only get 40 weeks on the Biggest Loser meal plan, but letters from home. Graciously, Brendan gives his prize to Lisa; Ada, Anna and Frado  give theirs away to some Blue team members as well.

At the weigh-in, Jill and Frado are whispering and Alison asks what's going on. Jillian says she hopes that certain Black team members didn't blow the weigh-in to get Patrick on their team. "It's still a game," Frado says.

Here's how the numbers fall:

Patrick loses 10 pounds (he's immune this week).

Blue:
Jessica loses 6 pounds
Mark loses 9 pounds
Lisa loses 8 pounds
Adam loses 11 pounds
Aaron loses 12 pounds
Jesse loses 16 pounds

They have a total team loss of 62 pounds, 3.16 percent.

Black:
Anna loses 5 pounds
Elizabeth loses 5 pounds
Frado loses 9 pounds
Ada loses 9 pounds
Rick loses 10 pounds
Brendan loses 2 pounds

They have a total team loss of 40 pounds, 2.4 percent.

The voting this week is pretty close. In a 3-2 vote, Rick is sent home over Elizabeth. I actually didn't see that one coming.

In his "Where are they now?" piece, Rick's definitely a contender for the at-home prize. He started at 350 pounds and is already down to 230! He's lost 120 pounds! He's inspired his son-in-law. Rick's wife tears up when talking about how proud she is of him.

Premise: Popular reality fare about overweight people competing to drop pounds. Divided initially into teams, the contestants are aided (and bullied) by trainers and must participate in physical reward challenges. At the end of each episode, there's a weigh-in that helps determine who is sent packing.
