The Biggest Loser Episode Recap: Week 3 Season 10, Episode 3

After last week's elimination, two players question whether they want to remain at the ranch. Tina announces she wants to leave and Frado immediately calls her out for being selfish. She finally reveals that she wants to join her family on their vacation and the rest of the contestants continue to hammer it. Lisa then chimes in by saying she feels she needs to go home to help Allie, who was just eliminated. Jessica pipes up and says that they should just pack up and leave. Bob arrives just as the room is heading up and brings the players into the gym to knock some sense into them.

Bob talks to Tina and reminds her about the mile she had to run to make it onto the ranch. That day was about not giving up and she's not about to give up now, he says. Jillian, meanwhile, works with the rest of the women and wants them to fight to stay above the yellow line. Last week, every woman but Ada had fallen below.

It's time for the first pop challenge of the season and tennis pro Anna Kournikova is on hand to lead the workout. The guys are certainly smitten. "She could've taught us calligraphy and I would've been excited," Jesse says. After the tennis workout, Alison explains the pop challenge. Each player has a cylinder and 25 tennis balls they can put in someone else's cylinder. When your cylinder gets filled, you're out. Last person remaining wins. Burgandy wants to get all the guys out, but her plan backfires and they instead they go after her. It comes down to Brendan and Frado and Frado eventually wins the immunity and yells out in excitement.

Alison announces that there will be another surprising mid-week weigh-in. Frado is the first to weigh in since he has immunity. Here's how the numbers fall:

Frado (immune) loses 3 pounds, .88 percent
Burgandy loses 1 pound, .46 percent
Tina loses 4 pounds, 1.62 percent
Sophia loses 6 pounds, 2.33 percent
Ada loses 6 pounds, 2.50 percent
Lisa loses 5 pounds, 1.84 percent
Aaron loses 7 pounds, 1.60 percent
Adam loses 12 pounds, 3.26 percent
Elizabeth loses3 pounds, 1.29 percent
Rick loses 8 pounds, 2.55 percent
Mark loses 11 pounds, 2.89 percent
Jessica loses 7 pounds, 2.61 percent
Jesse loses 11 pounds, 2.95 percent
Patrick loses 12 pounds, 3.17 percent
Brendan loses 5 pounds, 1.51 percent

The players to fall below the yellow line are Lisa, Aaron, Elizabeth, Burgandy, Tina, Sophia and Brendan. Adam, who has the highest percentage of weight-loss, can save one of them from having to face off in the elimination challenge.

Aaron is bummed by his weight loss, and he and Patrick work with Jillian. She says they're too sweet and it makes her want to puke in her mouth. "She's mistaking a Southern charm for being a sweetheart," Patrick says. Aaron then talks to Adam and says he wants to be there and be an example for his son. His plea works when Adam announces he saving Aaron.  "He's not ready to go home yet, not ready to look his son London in the face and let him know his father has failed him," Adam explains to the players. A little harsh if you ask me.

For the elimination challenge the bottom six players have to find one of four brass rings in a pile of sand. The catch is that there are 175 tons of sand to weed through. Sophia is the first to get it one and becomes safe. In the next round, Brendan gets upset when he uncovers a ring, only to have Sophia swoop in and grab it from him. But he finds it in the third round and is also safe. In the final leg, Burgandy gets the ring, which leaves Tina and Lisa up for elimination. What a coincidence that the two who expressed desire to go home at the beginning of the episode are up for dismissal.

Although Brendan says he doesn't buy Lisa's plea to stay, the votes speak for themselves. Lisa remains on campus, while Tina is sent packing. In her "where are they now?" segment, we see that she's gone from 263 pounds to 205 pounds. Her daughter, who also tried out for the show, has also lost 85 pounds.

Premise: Popular reality fare about overweight people competing to drop pounds. Divided initially into teams, the contestants are aided (and bullied) by trainers and must participate in physical reward challenges. At the end of each episode, there's a weigh-in that helps determine who is sent packing.
