This is it. Time for the Biggest Loser contestants' final weigh-ins, which will decide who will win the $250,000 grand prize. Alison Sweeney comes out looking radiant in red and leads us into a look back at the beginning of our contestants' weight loss journeys.
Over 2,500 pounds have been lost and now it's down to Michael, Ashley, Daris and Koli. In their last week on campus, Ashley and Michael secured their finale spots, but America was left to vote on the third person to join them.
Here comes that scale. Daris walks out first and look at NBC be all high-tech with superimposing the old bodies next to the live ones. Alison reminds us that Daris has never had a girlfriend or even been kissed, but not to worry, he now has a gorgeous girlfriend named Heather. Koli comes out next screaming, wearing red pants and a blue blazer. Talk about a new sense of style. He says people misunderstand his confidence and swagger for being cocky. So who will it be in the final 3? Daris!
Remember Shay from Season 8? She's back to weigh-in as part the Subway (the restaurant, not the mode of transportation) challenge she was given at the last finale. She was 304 pounds when we last saw her and is now down to 252. She's lost another 52 pounds (a total of 224 from the start of her initial journey) and is receiving $52,000. But wait, Jared himself comes out to hand her a check but it's blank. He announces that Subway is giving her a new challenge for the two of them to complete a marathon at the end of the year. If they do, Subway will double the check. Shay is in.
The first four at-home contestants come out and it's mother and daughter Cherita and Victoria, then Sherry followed by Maria. They head to change into the much less fancy spandex and sports bras.
Cherita began weighing 277 pounds and has lost 91 pounds, 32.85 percent.
Victoria began weighing 358 pounds and has lost 136 pounds, 37.99 percent.
Sherry began weighing 218 pounds and has lost 99 pounds, 45.41 percent.
Maria began weighing 281 pounds and has lost 114 pounds, 40.57 percent.
Next Alison introduces Patti, Stephanie, James and John. Ali, of course, mentions that Stephanie and fellow contestant Sam fell in love.
Patti began weighing 243 pounds and has lost 70 pounds, 30.04 percent.
Stephanie began weighing 264 pounds and has lost 99 pounds, 37.5 percent.
James began weighing 485 pounds and has lost 128 pounds, 26.39 percent.
John began weighing 484 pounds and has lost 149 pounds, 30.79 percent.
Melissa, Lance, Migdalia and Miggy walk out next. Melissa (look at those arms!) talks about paying it forward and teaching a healthy lifestyle to her and Lance's children.
Melissa began weighing 233 pounds and has lost 90 pounds, 38.63 percent.
Lance began weighing 365 pounds and has lost 128 pounds, 35.07 percent.
Migdalia began weighing 265 pounds and has lost 52 pounds, 19.62 percent.|
Miggy began weighing 240 pounds and has lost 91 pounds, 37.92 percent.
Now it's time to see O'Neal, Sunshine, Darrell and Andrea. Have I mentioned how much I love Team Yellow?
O'Neal began weighing 389 pounds and has lost 159 pounds, 40.87 percent.
Sunshine began weighing 275 pounds and has lost 114 pounds, 41.45 percent.
Darrell began weighing 413 pounds and has lost 189 pounds, 45.76 percent.
Andrea began weighing 298 pounds and has lost 84 pounds, 28.19 percent.
The final at-home competitors Cheryl, Sam and Koli come out. Cheryl says she's proud of her son for becoming a man, "and a man's man" at that.
Jillian promotes her new show, Losing it with Jillian, where she moves in with a different family every week and has one week to help them turn their lives around. Do you plan to watch? Back to weighing in...
Cheryl began weighing 227 pounds and has lost 76 pounds, 33.48 percent.
Sam began weighing 372 pounds and has lost 142 pounds, 38.17 percent.
Koli began weighing 403 pounds and has lost 215 pounds, 53.35 percent.
So Koli is our at-home winner of $100,000.
Next, we learn that over 5.8 million pounds have been pledged for the pound-for-pound challenge to help feed America. General Mills is also donating a can of food for every pound. Then we get a tie-in for movie Despicable Me. Not sure how that fits in, but hey, this is Biggest Loser, a show famous for not-so-discreet advertising.
Finally, it's time to get to the main competition. Daris is joined on stage by Ashley and Michael. Ashley is gorgeous and Michael is thinner than I ever could've imagined. (Nice skull belt by the way).
Michael was the biggest loser at the ranch and decides the order. He wants them to weigh in youngest to oldest, so it will be Daris, Ashley then Michael.
Daris began weighing 346 pounds and has lost 168 pounds, 48.55 percent.
Ashley began weighing 374 pounds and has lost 191 pounds, 48.93 percent.
Michael began weighing 526 pounds and has lost 264 pounds, 50.19 percent.
So the biggest loser is Michael! (If Koli had made it in, he would've beaten him.) He went from being the biggest guy ever on campus to losing over half of his bodyweight, which is pretty darn impressive.
