With only the live finale left in The Biggest Loser, the competition is fiercer than ever and the contestants are headed home for the remainder of their time. Before they hop on the plane, each of the four players rewatch their initial weigh-ins, interviews and the triumphs they've had along the way.
Upon arrival to their hometowns, Michael, Koli, Ashley and Daris each weigh in at the location of their first live weigh-in. What a feeling it must be to be in the same spot months later with such accomplishments under their belts this time. It isn't long before Alison pops up on-screen and alerts each of the four that their final challenge is going to be a full marathon where the winner receives $10,000 for the charity of their choice.
As in previous seasons, being home isn't as easy as it seems. Ashley is tempted with partying and being social, Koli feels extreme pressure, and Daris is letting his stress lead to late-night eating.
The trainers, of course, pay their players a little visit. Bob surprises Koli, who has been training at a mixed martial arts facility in Las Vegas. Talk about hardcore. Bob then visits Chicago where Michael tells him he's only feeling OK about his time at home. He also talks to Michael's 20-year-old sister about her struggles with weight and hopes that Michael's journey will help her start her own. Jillian arrives via helipcopter to Oklahoma because Daris apparently lives in the middle of nowhere.
It's marathon time and everyone is back in Los Angeles. Daris starts out strong with Koli trailing behind and Michael and Ashley hang together. As Daris peels ahead, he's joined by Season 2 winner Matt Hoover. Seeing pictures of the two men during the beginning of their respective weight-loss journeys, I swear they look like twins! Fan favorite Sione Fa of Season 7 joins Koli at mile 13. Season 5 winner Ali Vincent (boy, she's tiny) joins Ashley at mile 11 and Mike Morelli, also of Season 7, joins Michael.
Matt leaves Daris at mile 20, but he's soon joined by his sister at mile 25. He leaves her in the dust as he races to a finish in 4:02:14. Talk about a runner. Koli's sister joins him at the end as he sprints through the finish line with a time of 6:08. At mile 25 Ashley sees her brother, and Michael's sister is there as well. They finish together in 6:26. Marathon week is always a favorite of mine; it's so inspiring.
It's time for the final weigh-in on campus and the two people with the highest percentage are guaranteed a spot in live finale.
Michael last weighed in at 322 pounds and is now down to 299. He's lost 23 pounds at home, 7.14 percent. Koli was 231 pounds when he left the ranch and is now down to 218. He's lost 13 pounds, 5.63 percent. Ashley also weighed 231 pounds when she left and is now 213. She's lost 18 pounds, 7.79 percent. Daris was 195 pounds and surprisingly is now 197. He's actually gained 2 pounds at home.
So with Koli and Daris below the yellow line, it's up to America to vote on who will get the third and final sport. They each plead their case and it's one of the first times I don't want any of them to not make it. But I have to say, I'm pulling for Daris.
Who do you want as the third finalist?
