Biggest Loser Episode: Recap Week 8 Season 8, Episode 8

This week, Biggest Loser took a trip to our nation's capital to help fellow Americans lead happier and healthier lives. The contestants meet Alison in front of the Jefferson Memorial, where she announces that the teams will be disbanded. It's time for singles.

Right away there's a pop challenge. Each person must hand out stickers and encourage people to show up at the Washington Monument for a group workout with Bob and Jillian. Amanda finds that she has a few fans who recognize her from last season's finale. They even chant her name. But unfortunately, the same group of gals also recognize Daniel and take his stickers instead of Amanda's.

At the Monument, it's announced that the contest came down to just one vote. Ultimately (and surprisingly) Liz wins, which earns all her participants free meals at Subway. But before they can chow down, everyone must endure some exercise. "There's nobody that's immune to my abuse," Jillian says.

Next on the tour de capital is a meeting with a few senators. They each talk about their personal weight-loss struggles, and Daniel focuses on the lack of nutritional education he received as a high school student. He even displays the pants he wore and admits that his weight problems lead to his declining grades in class.

The contestants head to Constitution Gardens where they're tasked with a four-part challenge. A lot is at stake as the winner will receive immunity. The first leg of the challenge is to run one mile. The top six finishers will continue on to the next phase. During the run, we see flashbacks from the first week on campus when each person severely struggled with completing a mile. We even are treated to a little bit of Miley Cyrus's "The Climb" for added inspiration. Allen, Rudy, Daniel, Rudy, Liz and Rebecca are the first six and continue on to stage two.

At the Watergate Steps, the theme is raising funds. The players must go down the steps and gather as many pennies as they can; the first four players to fill their tube move on. Liz, who received a free pass for any leg of the competition but the last thanks to her pop challenge win, decides to skip this part. Rudy hopes that his "banana hands" as Daniel calls them will be to his advantage, and they are — he comes in first place. Daniel is in second leaving the the final spot down to Allen and Rebecca. Even Alison jumps in excitement when it's extremely close. Rebecca just edges out Alle  to make it to the next challenge, which is balancing on a narrow ledge while holding a Pilates ball on top of their heads.

At the US Capitol, Daniel and Liz both fall off the ledge leaving Rebecca and Rudy to compete in the final race for immunity. They must complete 206 steps as 206 is the number of people to have ever competed on The Biggest Loser. Rebecca tripps up at first but then gets a pretty substantial lead. It's enough to keep her ahead and win. She's certainly giddy with excitement when it's all over.

The contestants along with Bob and Jillian were treated with a trip to Michelle Obama's garden, and they were told to pick all the veggies they wanted and prepare a meal with the White House chef. Talk about cool. They go into the White House kitchen and make a fresh salad using all the ingredients they picked up.

After the last-chance workout, where Jillian was happy she could now torture everyone, it's time for the outdoor weigh-in. Rebecca goes first, and loses 4 pounds, 1.79 percent but is safe with immunity.

The rest goes as follows:
Shay loses 9 pounds, 2.24 percent
Tracey loses 3 pounds, 1.52 percent
Daniel loses 11 pounds, 4.04 percent
Allen loses 9 pounds, 3.44 percent
Danny loses 12 pounds, 3.48 percent
Rudy loses 9 pounds, 3.64 percent
Liz loses 3 pounds, 1.36 percent
Amanda loses 7 pounds, 3.27 percent

Tracey and Liz fall below the yellow line. They each plead their case, but Liz doesn't fight hard enough for it while Tracey stands up there and bursts into tears.

During the elimination, Amanda votes for Tracey because she betrayed her twice. Shay votes for Liz, but then Danny, Daniel and Rebecca all vote out Tracey. She's actually in good spirits upon leaving and says that "the new me smiles a lot more." The next day she hops into a helicopter, just as she did the first week when being transported to the hospital, only this time it's an enjoyable ride. She arrives home, give a nice cheesy pose, and then runs into her husband's arms. I'm most surprised when we see Tracey's "where are they now" bit because she looks incredible. She even returns to Malibu, California to run the same mile that caused her to collapse weeks earlier. She completes it in 11:22 and is apparently now training for her first marathon.

Are you glad to see Tracey go or do you think she needed to stay?
