The Big Bang Theory Episode Recap: "The Vartabedian Conundrum" Season 2, Episode 10

Everything seemed to be going great between Leonard and Stephanie, but apparently things are moving a bit too fast for Leonard, who seeks advice from Penny.

We first find Stephanie looking in Sheldon's ear because Sheldon's complaining of high-pitched ringing. Sheldon states, "You're the doc, but I keep hearing the most annoying sound," and Leonard quickly responds, "Me too." Stephanie comes to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong with Sheldon and heads to bed. Before Leonard could follow her lead, Sheldon calls for a meeting and congratulates him on the blossoming relationship...and also brings to his attention that she is the third roommate, which Leonard adamantly denies. Sheldon then presents Leonard with the legal (and signed) documentation that states the rules and regulations of this very occurrence.

The next morning the three "new roommates" were in the kitchen, when Penny comes walking (pantless) into the apartment looking for coffee. This automatically makes Stephanie visibly jealous because she has never heard anything about Penny. Can this really be the first time she has seen or heard about Penny!? Anyway, Stephanie eventually leaves in order to get to her "gall bladder removal appointment," and since Leonard was having trouble dealing with the fact that Stephanie has moved in, Penny decided to investigate his room. Here we find many examples of his bachelor-less ways (floral bed sheets, dresses in the closet, scented candles, a jewelry box to name a few) and Leonard finally comes to his revelation, "Oh my God, we're living together."

Next, we find Sheldon at the hospital insisting that there is something wrong with him. He was even holding the blood pressure cuff and stethoscope his aunt gave him when he was 12. Stephanie wants nothing to do with Sheldon and his hypochondriac ways and denies the extensive tests that he wants performed. Meanwhile, Leonard and Penny were doing laundry in the wash room and Penny asks Leonard a very simple question: "Are you happy?" Although Leonard was struggling to answer this question, he seems to really be able to confide in Penny and it always seems to happen in the laundry room. Leonard eventually decides that he is going to talk to Stephanie and let her know that they need to move at a slower pace.

Taking Penny's advice, Leonard goes back to the apartment in order to sit down with Stephanie. He walks in only to find Stephanie looking down Sheldon's throat and being very "worried" at what she saw. She comes to the (sarcastic) conclusion that his Larynx was inflamed and he needed to stop talking immediately. I have to hand it to her, it was a genius idea! She then states one of the funniest lines of the week to Leonard, "I just performed a Sheldonectomy." (Imagine being in her skin for a week. I'm sure this is going to be a well needed vacation from Sheldon for her, even if it only lasts for a night.) The conversation quickly switches topics when Leonard asks her to sit on the couch. A confused and a little worried Stephanie sits down with him, but this "talk" eventually leads to her seducing Leonard, therefore having zero discussion on the relationship. The next scene we see Leonard and Penny back in the laundry room and she asks how the conversation went. Leonard's face said it all and Penny quickly exclaims, "You guys had sex didn't you?" Penny again puts it in Leonard's head that a guy does not always have to go with what a woman wants. Do you guys think that she was giving this advice out of jealousy or friendship? I can't help but think that she is a little jealous of his (sexual) relationship with Stephanie.

The second time Leonard tries to confront Stephanie about the relationship is also a failure, where we see a different and frankly a little crazy side of Stephanie. Was anyone else a little freaked out about her breakdown in the bedroom? She can seem so normal, but then sometimes she can do and say some stuff that seems like she is one step toward a Fatal Attraction breakdown. The final scene showed Leonard (with his snazzy new bird shirt) sitting in the cafeteria with Howard and Raj. Howard gives Leonard the idea that he should text Stephanie that he wants her to move out of his apartment, and he does exactly that. But by doing this, it may be the end of the relationship. In the end, he got a text back from her and although we don't know what it said, we can only assume this relationship is far from over.

So, what was everyone's opinion of this week's episode? I thought it was nice to see back-to-back Leonard-centric episodes that we seemed to have been missing this season. I am still waiting for the Leslie, Penny, Stephanie cat fight (even if it is a dream sequence) to happen sometime this season too. How great would that be!? And who would win? Also, get ready for a first ever Christmas episode next week to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Hopefully Sheldon can work a Christmas sweater into his wardrobe. As always, here are some of the quotes of this week's episode that I feel stood out:

• "Circle-Circle, Dot-Dot...now you have a cootie shot." — Stephanie's prognosis to Sheldon's ear pain
• "I don't care what the symptoms are, but my girlfriend is not giving you a prostate exam." — Leonard
• "Where's my bat signal?" — Leonard
• "I already drank the barium!" — Sheldon in the hospital wanting a full work up from Stephanie
• "I just ate...shouldn't we wait another hour." — Leonard's response to Stephanie after she starts seducing him
• "Some hiney would be nice too." — Sheldon's computer asking for "honey" from Penny.

Premise: Two nerdy physicists share an apartment and an unlikely friendship with their beautiful neighbor with whom one of them is infatuated. Like the universe after the big bang, the show's popularity expanded, thanks to breakout star Jim Parsons, along with the chemistry among the friends and the developing romance between Leonard and Penny. The addition of Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik in later seasons also enhanced the stories and relationships of the leads.
