Cote De Pablo, Felicity Huffman, Patrick Swayze

Every week, senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich, Mickey O'Connor and Tim Molloy satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

I only have one question about the NCIS finale: Is Cote de Pablo returning to the show next season? — B.C.
MATT: Why, did it look like Ziva was on death's doorstep in that secretly filmed torture scene? If so, think back to what NCIS boss Shane Brennan said about that grim cliff-hanger: Come September, "all will be revealed and you will be surprised. It will come at you from left field." (But, in a word: Yes. Sources whisper to me that Cote will be back.) Bonus buzzlet: Season 6 arrives on DVD Aug. 25!

Please tell us the rumors aren't true, and that Desperate Housewives isn't going with a melodramatic miscarriage storyline for Lynette. — Steph
MICKEY: Egads, this is morbid, Steph, but let's retrace our steps: Marc Cherry has said that he thinks a mother losing a child would be ... read more

Is A&E Giving Up on The Beast?

Patrick Swayze

Things aren't looking great for a second season of The Beast.

A&E isn't expected to renew the Patrick Swayze-fronted cop drama, sources told Variety. A rep for the cable network, however, told TVGuide.com that no official decision about the show's future has been made.

The series' first season ran for 13 episodes, and the finale aired April 23.

The show has overcome its share of obstacles. Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after the pilot was shot, but the actor received a doctor's OK to complete filming once the series was picked up. Swayze also ... read more

Despite Flurry of Twitters to Contrary, Patrick Swayze Lives

Patrick Swayze

Tweets of Patrick Swayze's death have been greatly exaggerated.

A false report that the Dirty Dancing star had lost his battle with cancer burned quickly through the Twitter-sphere early Tuesday, forcing his publicist to issue a statement confirming that he remains alive. read more

A&E Releases Programming Slate, But Where's Patrick Swayze's The Beast?

The Beast

A&E's new slate of original programming doesn't include The Beast, the Patrick Swayze FBI drama imperiled by the health of its star.

That doesn't necessarily mean the end of the show — a rep for the cable network says no decision has been made about the its future — but it comes as a disappointment to Swayze fans who hoped The Beast might appear on A&E's schedule, which was released Tuesday. Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2008, and shot most of the first season of The Beast while battling the disease.

A&E's sole returning scripted series, the Benjamin Bratt-starrer The Cleaner, returns June 23. read more

Beast Ends Season, But is the Show Over as Well?

The Beast

The Beast's season finale airs Thursday (10 pm/ET, A&E,), but whether it's also the series finale of the Patrick Swayze drama remains to be seen.

Nothing has been decided about the fate of the show, in which Swayze plays an undercover FBI agent, a series rep says. Any decision, of course, relies on the more important fate of the show's star, who has battled pancreatic cancer since early last year. read more

The Beast

Trouble the Water
8:30 pm/ET HBO
If you think you've seen it all about Hurricane Katrina in 2005, give this 2008 Oscar-nominated documentary a look. Amateur videographer Kimberly Roberts and her husband shot footage before, during and after the storm from New Orleans' Ninth Ward, then, coincidentally, hooked up with filmmakers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal (whose credits include several Michael Moore films). Their collaboration reveals a story seldom seen by TV cameras, and the Roberts' optimism in the face of so much loss is a tribute to the human spirit.

Read on for previews of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, The Beast and Southland. read more
