The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 9 Season 8, Episode 9

Emily, Sean, Arie and Jef arrive Curacao for a week of fantasy dates. Before the dates begin, Emily talks about her time with all the men. She says she immediately had a connection with Sean, who she says gives her butterflies. Jef, who rode in on a skateboard Night 1, "marches to his own drum," she says. He has an edge, but is also kind and thoughtful, which she loves. Then there's Arie, who Emily says she hit it off with right away. Emily tears up as she imagines her life with Arie and how much he would adore her.

Enough with the mushy stuff, let's get to the hot-and-steamy dates! Sean and Emily meet on the beach where they take off in a helicopter that transports them to a private island. They talk about their hometown date and a comment his family made about him treating his ex like a buddy, which raised a red flag for Emily. Sean explains that after a while he wasn't in love with his ex, but that it's not the love he's experiencing with Emily. Sean then stutters and doesn't yet say the "L" word to her directly. Sean changes the topic and they go off to snorkel in the ocean.  That night Emily and Sean have a romantic dinner on the beach. Sean talks about how he's ready for a family and then pulls out a letter he wrote for Ricki.

"I hope to honor you by loving your mom with every ounce of my being," he says. Emily melts as he continues to spout such meaningful words. "At the end of this, say it's me and you do you see yourself being at a point where you can get engaged?" Emily asks. "Love in my eyes means you can't stand to spend the rest of your life with anybody else," Sean says. "I can't picture my life without you...I have fallen in love with you and I know it without a shadow of a doubt." Next, Emily pulls out the fantasy suite card from Chris. Sean says he'd love the chance to spend more time with her. Emily agrees and off they go to the hot tub. But will Emily let Sean stay over? She wants him to, but also says she's a mom and has an example to set. So after a wonderful day and romantic night, they goodbye.

Jef meets Emily on the beach and they head off to spend the day on the boat. Jef tells Emily that his family not only approved, but that he spoke to his parents and they want to meet her too. Emily is thrilled. After some time on the boat, the two jump into the water and have a ball of fun. "The sun is setting here in Curacao but for me and Emily our whole life is just starting," Jef says.  At dinner, Jef dives into some tougher questions like where they would live (she says she's open to moving), why her past relationships haven't worked and if she thinks he's a good fit for Ricki. Emily says during the days in between Prague and hometown dates, she pictured Jef over the other guy. Next, the card comes out, and Jef declines, saying he respects her daughter and is worried about his family watching. Emily thanks him for being such a gentleman and says she wants to hang out for a bit in the suite, but won't be staying over. (Don't worry, they still get in plenty of making out.)

It's the final date of the week and Arie and Emily go swimming with dolphins. It's kind of incredible to see them all in the ocean. Back on the boat, they talk about their whirlwind journey. Arie's favorite parts were their walk in Croatia and the beach in Bermuda. All of which, involved kissing, Emily points out. But Emily does love kissing him, she says. But is there more to their connection than just chemistry? At dinner, Arie asks Emily about their future, where they'd live, etc. "I don't have all the asnwers to be honest," she says, "but I'd be so happy to move to Scottsdale." He also tells her how much being a father would mean to him and that he'd love to show that side of himself to her. He also assures her he doesn't want to rush a relationship with Ricki and that he wants to be her buddy first. Emily loves that he just gets it. As Emily and Arie are kissing, she decides not to give him the fantasy suite card because she doesn't trust herself not to take things too far. "Good lord, he's hot," she adds.

Chris Harrison arrives to help Emily deliberate. But Em makes it clear she didn't gain any clarity like she thought she would. "I see so much good in each of them and I see a happy life with each of them," she says. Emily continues to tell Chris that she's sad the journey is coming to an end and that she hopes she'll know she's made the right choice the next morning. Before she decides, Emily receives very heartfelt video messages from the guys.

It's finally time for Emily to make the tough decision of letting one of the guys go. (I'm seriously sad!) Emily picks up the first rose and hands it to Jef. The second and final rose goes to Arie. Sean appears to be in shock and Emily is about to break down in tears. The two walk out and sit down on a bench in silence. Sean says he feels stupid because he was ready to spend his life with Emily and didn't see this as a possible outcome. Emily cries and says, "I wanted it to be you so bad. I'm really going to miss you and I've loved every minute we've had." They eventually walk out and say their final goodbye. In the car, Sean is silent and then says, "Honestly when she walked out tonight I thought that's my wife." Aw Sean!

Next week is Men Tell All! Don't know about you, but I cannot wait.
