The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 8 Season 8, Episode 8

It's hometown date week on The Bachelorette and Emily is headed to Chicago with Chris; St. George, Utah, with Jef; Scottsdale, Ariz., with Arie; and Dallas with Sean.

First, Emily spends some quality time with her daughter Ricki and imagines how each of the men would fit into their lives. She loves how sweet Chris is, that Jef has edge, the fun she has with Arie and how safe she feels with Sean.

Emily arrives in Chicago, where she and Chris and heading to a Polish-American restaurant. Turns out Chris is a first-generation Polish-American! They sit down and Chris apologizes for what went down at the rose ceremony and for being a baby. He then gives Em the lowdown on who she's about to meet, including his very loving mom and his tough-as-nails sister.

Emily and Chris arrive at his family's home and after some group chat, Chris' dad pulls Em aside. "We are a very close family," John says. Emily tells him that she has a 6-year-old and asks if Chris is ready. John reassures Emily that Chris will love and support her. Chris's mom, meanwhile, tells him if he loves her, he's got to get out there, "kick ass and fight." Gotta give it up for the Chris parentals. Chris' sister, though, isn't as easy on Emily and asks her to cut him loose if he's not the one.

At the end of the night, Chris tells Emily, "After today, it makes it easy for me to say I'm in love with you." They embrace with a big kiss and then Chris walks Emily outside and there's a full-on polka dance party for them.

Emily meets Jef on his (ginormous) family ranch in St. George, Utah. They immediately set out on a dune buggy-type vehicle and shoot some guns. "Who knew Jef in his skinny jeans had such a good shot?" Emily says. Pretty much sums him up. Emily tries to shoot the clay pigeons next and hits the first one. Turns out Emily takes gun lessons at home.

It's time to meet Jef's oldest brother Steve, his wife and kids, brother Mike, and sisters Melissa and Julie. His parents, he says, are doing charity work in South Carolina. Steve takes Emily aside first and asks some deep questions, like what she's done this time around to make it work and how she would work to stay in love. Steve likes her answers and says she'd be the perfect person to complement Jef. The sisters steal her away next and admit they're skeptical. Emily admits that she's nervous that Jef wouldn't be ready for a family, but they say he will be if he finds the right girl. The sisters end up loving Emily and they all fit well together.

Jef and Emily have some alone time, and Jef reads Emily something he wrote for her on the plane back from Prague. He lays it all on the line, from how much he loves Emily to how he wants to be there for Ricki. "That was the sweetest thing anybody has ever said to me," Emily says, holding back tears. I didn't really get his appeal early on, but now I can see why these two could work.

Emily is in Scottsdale and meets Arie at the racetrack. While Emily spent years at the racetrack, she's about to learn about IndyCar racing, which is much different than Nascar. She hops in the car and gets driven around the track.

Emily finally meets the fam and there are a lot of them. Emily's nervous after Arie admits he was nervous. It doesn't help when, mid-conversation, Arie's parents start talking Dutch to each other. Next, Arie's mom steals Emily away and she says she saw Emily on Brad's season and asks what went wrong. Emily answers well and his mom later admits she was hesitant at first, but can't wait for Emily to choose him. Ultimately, Emily says she had a great day. "I am definitely going to marry Emily," Arie says.

The final hometown date is in Dallas with Sean and his adorable puppies. They enjoy a picnic and chat about how Sean has only had one serious relationship and has since made a promise he won't let a girl give herself to him if he can't reciprocate. And yes, he's feeling it with Emily. But is he too perfect? Turns out there's a minor bomb waiting to be dropped.

Emily and Sean arrive to his parents' house and his niece runs up in excitement. His family is just adorable. "Now that we're here, there's something you probably need to know," he says. "I still live here." Silence. "Oh cool," Emily says summing up her thoughts. She's trying to remain cool, but is a little freaked out especially when she sees his disaster of a room, stuffed animals and all. Turns out it was all a joke. I think I just breathed a sigh of relief for her.

Sean's dad pulls him aside and Sean talks about how much he likes her. His dad really sees the "magic" between the two. Sean's dad talks to Emily next and asks about their first connection. She says his love for his family attracted her to him right away. His dad is just so excited to hear his son talk about a woman in this way for the first time.

Emily is back in Los Angeles, where Chris Harrison is waiting to get the lowdown on the week. As Emily talks about all the fabulous dates, she tears up knowing she has to let one of the men go — especially after meeting their families. "Each of the families I met this week were so wonderful, so kind to me and so welcoming that it's hard for me," she says.

It's time for the rose ceremony. The first name called is Arie, followed by Jef and finally, Sean. Although it was a tough decision, I think we all saw this coming. Chris and Emily sit outside and he asks for an explanation, but she doesn't have one. "So many more of my relationships grew so much faster and deeper," he says. "I don't understand. How much faster could it have possibly moved? I told you, 'I love you." Emily ultimately says she had to follow her heart.

Next week, the group heads to Curacao. Who do you think will make the final two?
