The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 6 Season 8, Episode 6

Emily and her men have arrived in Croatia for the next step of their Bachelorette journey, and Travis is the lucky man who gets the week's first one-on-one.

First up, he and Emily explore the town, hand-in-hand. They wind up at the "balancing stone" where if you can stay up on the rock, you'll be lucky in love. After a few failed tries, Travis hangs on. Good sign for things to come? At dinner, Travis tells Emily about his broken engagement and that no one did anything wrong, but it just wasn't right. He also admits he hasn't dated in the two years since. After a seemingly great dinner, Emily says, "From Day 1 you've been someone who's brought light to every situation...but I don't know if we have that romance." She lets Travis go (I'm actually surprised), and he is heartbroken.

On the group date, Emily and Jef, Chris, John, Sean, Doug and Arie go see the movie Brave (nice product placement). They're going to compete in their own Highland Games — complete with kilts! Their first challenge is archery. The guys are pretty good, save for Chris, who after a nice wind-up, doesn't even hit the target. Next is the caber toss (basically a log throw) where Chris, again, is DQ'd. Sean is so strong he breaks his log! Chris tries once again to redeem himself in the Maide Leisg but loses to Doug. No matter: Emily presents the Bravery Cup to Chris. So, at least he gets a little alone time and a smoochy-smooch.

During the evening, Arie steals Emily away to apologize about London. He says he should've stood up for her. The two continue their walk until they wind up making out hardcore on a street corner. Jef also gets some time with Em and tells her, "You give me the type of feeling people write in novels about." They seem to be developing a connection, albeit slower than Emily and Arie. But it's not Jef or even Arie who gets the rose — it goes to Chris.

It's time for Ryan's one-on-one date, and the men are not happy for him because of his cocky attitude. He and Emily take off for the countryside, go oyster fishing and, again, he calls Em a future trophy wife. They wind up in a castle for a romantic dinner. Ryan pulls out a note of 12 things he's looking for in wife. Among the words he uses are loyal, logical, encouraging, faithful, nurturing, confident, magnetic, unselfish and beautiful. "Sometimes I feel like when I'm around you, I find the need to be perfect all the time," Emily says. "I don't want to be someone's mold." She then takes the rose and adds, "You are so funny and great looking ... but your list of things you look for in your future wife, to be honest, on the top of my list would be a loving family and not a perfect one." She ultimately does not give Ryan the rose. Proud of you, Emily! Ryan says he's shocked and didn't see this coming. He also adds that Emily is making the wrong choice. He does not make it easy on her, that's for sure. But hey, Ryan, now you can be the Bachelor like you wanted. (Also, the guys jump for joy when they see his suitcase removed from the house.)

Later that night, Emily gets a knock at her door and it's Arie. He tells her how encouraging it was when she got rid of Ryan. They make out on her bed before he has to say goodbye.

It's cocktail party time and Emily needs some time with John and Doug, who she's not positive about. John opens up about his grandparents and tears up talking about their deaths when he shows their funeral cards that he carries around. He says he hopes it helps her get to know about him by sharing this.

Chris Harrison breaks up the party for Emily to ponder her decision and begin the rose ceremony. Aside from Chris, who already has a rose, she hands them out to Sean, Jef, and Arie ... but then Emily stops a rose short. She walks away and finds Chris because she doesn't know what to do. Ultimately, she says she cannot hand out the final rose. Instead, she wants an extra rose. So both Doug and John are moving on.

What do you think about Emily's choices this week? Did she send home and keep the right men? Weigh in below.
