The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 4 Season 8, Episode 4

On this week's episode of The Bachelorette, Emily and the gang are headed to Bermuda for fun in the sun and some manly competition. But before the group date, we get a one-on-one date, which goes to Doug. Immediately, the single dad gets nervous and the guys waste no time before playing up his insecurity and pushing his buttons.

The two head off to shop around the island town and Doug also tells Emily about a charity he started.  Emily is more and more impressed, but equally nervous that he can't possibly be that perfect. So at dinner she calls him out on it and even asks him what his ex would say was her biggest complaint about him. Doug responds that he spends too much time with her son, and again she wonders if he's just saying the "right thing." But when Doug asks Emily about her flaws she realizes maybe it was a tougher question than she thought. So with that, she hands him the rose, but he doesn't give her a thank you kiss.

Charlie, Ryan, Chris, Jef, Sean, Arie, Travis and Kalon get the group date, which is a sailing competition to see which team gets to spend more time with Emily. Needless to say it's intense from the get-go. Just as the red team (Chris, Sean, Charlie and Travis) gets cocky, yellow starts to catch up and nabs the win.

During the evening portion, Ryan toasts to Emily as his "trophy wife," which further shows his conceited and rude personality. Next, Arie and Emily steal time away for more kisses. Is he the only one who ever makes out with Em? Jef later gets some time and he's pretty nervous. He tells her he likes her, and Emily likes that he's finally starting to open up but is bummed he didn't kiss her. During Emily's time with Ryan she brings up all his recent comments about getting fat. "God designed you to be a beautiful woman so be a beautiful woman," is his answer. He also brings up her kiss with Arie. Emily apologizes she threw it in his face (don't apologize, girl!) but also thinks he knew what he was getting into and he shouldn't be judging her. Alas, it's time for Emily to hand out her date rose and it goes to One F-Jef.

The dreaded two-on-one date has come and it goes to John and Nate. The trio not-so-coincidentally sails out to the Bermuda Triangle where they jump off a cliff into the ocean as the start to the date. That night, they sit down to dinner and it's much more awkward with the rose in front of them. They even talk about "kin-oa" aka quinoa, which is pretty much the least romantic a conversation can get. Emily gives them each some alone time, and first up is Nate. They talk about his family and he gets emotional thinking about them. John, meanwhile, says he prefers the two-on-one to a group so he can know whether or not they have a connection. Emily is ready to make her decision and tells Nate she doesn't see them together forever. John gets the rose.

At the cocktail party, Ryan continues to talk about his confidence in his relationship with Emily, but also says if it doesn't work out he'll be the next Bachelor. Seriously. During Chris' time he says he stood up to someone in the house who gave him crap about being young and again assured her he's more mature than people think. He then confronts Doug himself and asks why he's the better man for Emily. They start going at it, and it isn't pretty.

Emily and Chris deliberate and its nice we are privy to this so early on. She says the week took a lot out of her and she's trying to figure out Doug. He seems so perfect, yet she keeps hearing about him or Ryan getting in fights.

It's rose ceremony time and Emily hands them out to Sean, Arie, Travis, Chris, Ryan, Kalon and Alejandro. Charlie and Michael are going home.

Next week the group heads to London where one of the guys pisses off Emily big time!
