The Bachelorette Episode Recap: Week 4 Season 7, Episode 4

On this week's episode of The Bachelorette, Bentley is gone, at least for now, and it's time for Ashley and the men to travel abroad. Yep, it's only Week 4, but they're already going to Thailand. Constantine gets the first date and although the rain keeps them from going out to sea, it doesn't prevent them from enjoying each other's company. The two walk around Phuket where they meet a man on the street. He gives them the advice that love is not about winning -- very appropriate for a show with 25 men competing for one woman. The night portion of the date is pretty standard and they have dinner and make basic conversation. I don't see too much chemistry between the two, but "hopeless Ashley is now hopeful again," she says.

For the group date, Ashley and the men go to an orphanage to help redecorate. It's always nice when the dates have some substantial value to them like this one. After painting the different rooms, the kids come out and show everyone their appreciation when they see their new digs. The group celebrates that night at a bar where Ben F. and Ashley spend some alone time together. She tells him he impressed her and the two kiss and have a moment. Next, Ashley chats with JP and they walk on the rainy beach. She asks if they're OK since he was a bit standoffish, but they're certainly fine when they have a steamy makeout sesh that she calls magical. Ashley returns to the group and is about to give out the date's rose, when Ryan steps in to say he wants a few more minutes with Ashley. The guys get annoyed, but Ryan's last-minute chat doesn't put him over the edge since Ben F. gets the rose.

Ames gets a solo date and the two canoe through gorgeous caves. Apparently he's already been in Phuket, along with 69 other countries, but he calls Thailand the most beautiful. He also makes some pretty cheesy metaphors like comparing the navigation of the waters to navigating a relationship. But Ashley lets them slide and is actually surprised at how much she's enjoying her date with him. At dinner, Ames doesn't get a kiss, but more importantly  receives a rose.

At the cocktail party, Ashley first talks to West and wants to know if he's really ready to move on. After a long-winded answer he says he's very much ready to find happiness. Next she chats with Lucas, who was also once married, and he admits that while he'll always care about his ex, the love and passion is gone so there's nothing Ashley needs to worry about. Ryan is shocked to find out the guys have some issues with him when Blake confronts him. He thinks he's ticking people off because he's happy and ironically, Ashley also brings that quality of his up. He swears the cheeriness is the real him.

Ashley talks to Chris Harrison and says she's still a bit hung up on Bentley (and by a bit she has to mean obsessed).  She also says that she had thought Ames would go home, but because she was wrong about him and kept him, she only wants one man to leave this week. Chris says he's OK with adding a rose.

The remaining roses go to: Lucas, Ryan, JP, Nick, Mickey, Blake, William and Ben C. So West is going home. Next week they're going to one of the most exotic cities in the world, Chiang Mai — and Bentley returns.
