After weeks of fake wrestlers and love tattoos, we've finally made it to the finale! Will Ali choose Roberto, Chris L., or neither? We'll find out soon enough who, if anyone, will get the final rose.
Tonight begins with Ali's family meeting both of the guys. While at first it may seem Ali's parents and siblings would like Chris L. better because he had taken things slow, or like Roberto more because his feelings were strong right from the start, they end up liking both guys equally because, to simply put it, both guys are crazy for Ali. They can tell Roberto is crazy about Ali (and vice-versa), but they also know Chris L.'s feeling are true even if it took them a longer time to come to the surface. Well thanks for nothing, family! (Just kidding, kind of).
So, now that Ali has to make the decision almost completely on her own, she has some major thinking to do. After going on one last date with Roberto (when they also definitely spend the night together), its pretty clear Ali and Roberto's relationship is on another plateau from any other relationship on the show and isn't slowing down one bit. Ali is just as crazy about Roberto as she was the day she first him and its endearing in a way to see how their relationship has grown while retaining so much spark.
After her last date with Roberto, its time for Ali's final date with Chris L. Ali walks in with a lot on her mind and talks to him about the crazy last couple of days and how much her family loved him. However, Ali sits Chris L. down on the couch and slowly starts to talk about following her heart and not being able to be with someone just because you like spending time with them. Just when you're not sure what Ali is trying to say, she tells him he's one of the most amazing men she's ever met, but that she's in love with somebody else and Chris L. looks like he's just been hit by a bus. Ali says she knows this may seem sudden, but she doesn't want him to go through the next day of getting down on one knee and everything if she already knows who she is going to pick. Chris L. is extremely disappointed and a little blown away by the revelation, but thanks Ali for saving him from the following day's festivities. Ali starts crying a few mascara tears and the two hug a couple of times before she leaves.
After Ali leaves, Chris L. is visibly still shaken, but just when you thought you couldn't love this guy more (yes, there, I said it), he finds a rainbow outside of his hotel room and smiles up at the sky. He says he knows the rainbow is his mom's way of saying he was great for putting everything out there and letting himself fall for Ali. Chris L. says that although today hurts, he wouldn't do anything differently and just hopes he can find the one to share his life with. He then sails away on a small boat and into Bachelorette history as the most sane guy ever. We'll miss you Chris!
Finally, it's the day of the final rose and even after picking out an engagement ring for Ali, Roberto seems not entirely sure if he will actually propose. He keeps saying he needs to feel it in the moment and needs to do what's best for him. Chris Harrison escorts him to Ali and she's immediately all smiles and kissing him, hopefully giving him the go-ahead signal to propose. She tells him she's so in love with him and he tells her he's ready to spend his life with her and grow old with her and, best one, have a beautiful family with her (they will have such gorgeous children, its ridiculous). Ali then reveals to Roberto that he's the only one here and Roberto gets down on one knee and proposes and Ali accepts. Cue "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" as Roberto swoops Ali into his arms.
Obviously, I have been a bigger fan of Chris L. from the very beginning, but it's finally time to face the music that he was almost too normal for The Bachelorette. Ali's feelings were so strong from the first day, there was no way slow and steady Chris L. could compete, unless he and Ali were truly meant to be. My only big question for Ali is whether Roberto's family stand by his engagement after his dad was so vocal about Roberto needing to find someone who was good enough for him (even though he said he liked Ali). But let's all give a hand to Ali for actually looking out for Chris L. and not putting him through the final day in Bora Bora. He's already been through so much!
So what did you think of the final outcome? Will Ali and Roberto actually be able to find lifelong happiness or will this love fizzle as quickly as it started? And what about Chris L.? Should he be the next Bachelor? Yes, he's a fan favorite and is on the hunt for a woman to share his life with, but isn't he too normal to be the object of 20 women's affections all at the same time? I don't know if he could actually handle the experience and walk away as down-to-earth and normal as he is now.
