The Bachelor

The Bachelor
8/7c ABC
Brad seems to prefer complainers (Ashley H. and Michelle) to cheaters (the departed Stacey). But by how much? Michelle had to rappel down the side of a skyscraper for her rose, and Ashley H. had to wait till the very end of the rose ceremony. And tonight, in Las Vegas, she has to go on one of those dreaded two-on-one dates (to Cirque du Soleil's Viva ELVIS show). Her competition: Ashley S., who won the first rose. Brad takes eight gals (including Emily, whose late fiancé was a NASCAR driver) to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And Shawntel snares the one-on-one date. The good news: It's a shopping spree. Not so much fun: Brad wants to hear about her work. She's an undertaker. — Paul Droesch

Chris Harrison

The Oscars may be the star of the awards season, but Chris Harrison says he looks forward to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Bachelor Episode Recap: Week Four

The claws come out on The Bachelor, and Michelle mysteriously wakes up with a black eye she claims appeared overnight. What?

Chantal is the first to get the one-on-one date with Brad this week and they set out in a private helicopter to the ocean. She is terrified upon learning they'll be walking on the sea floor, but she sucks it up and it doesn't take long for Chantal to soak it in and enjoy the moment as the two wander the ocean bottom with smoke monster-looking creatures in their wake. Afterward, the two share their own private villa on the water where Brad asks Chantal if... read more

Madison and her fangs might be gone, but Michelle, who keeps threatening to use her fists on any of the 13 other remaining bachelorettes who get in her way, is still very much alive. So keep your dukes up, ladies. But now Michelle has a problem she can't blame on her competitors: She must rappel down the side of a skyscraper, and she's afraid of heights. And Chantal, who's afraid of water, gets to go skin diving. Dates? Or torture? (And don't forget Emily and planes last week.) The group date is an appearance on Loveline with Mike & Dr. Drew, and when the dust settles 11 gals remain. — Paul Droesch

As the connections continue to develop on The Bachelor and the first kisses begin to happen, Michelle gets more and more possessive. Plus: One of the girls reveals her extremely emotional past.

Ashley S gets the first one-on-one date this week and she and Brad head off in a convertible to Capitol Records. They go into the recording studio where they must sing "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal. Brad is pretty sure it's going to sound awful and he's right, but they hold hands and are totally into it. "I apologize, Mr. Seal," Brad says after the song. They then walk into a another room and Seal is there to sing his hit for them. I'm actually surprised it took 15 seasons to get him on the show. read more

Premise: True love (or a TV facsimile thereof) gets the reality treatment in this long-running dating game, in which a successful bachelor romances a number of beauties. The list of possible paramours is reduced each week until he gives a final red rose to one of them. The series spun off 'The Bachelorette', a spate of rip-offs and very few lasting pairings.
