Bachelor Takes On Ironman Triathlon

For those who think running a marathon isn't challenging enough, there's the Ironman Triathlon. Held Oct. 13 in Kona, Hawaii, the über-endurance world championship airs Saturday on NBC (Dec. 1, 4:30 pm/ET).In addition to elite athletes, the race also features everyday folks — and reality stars. Andy Baldwin, best known as the (still single) star of last spring's The Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman, was one of the 1,700 racers. I'm guessing that competing in the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run was less painful than deflecting the desperate advances of the Bachelor's pack of harpies. read more

You Sitting Down? Bachelor Pauses Wedding Plans

Tessa Horst and Andy Baldwin courtesy ABC/Andy Baldwin

He's an officer, a gentleman and, technically, still on the market. ABC's most recent Bachelor, Lt. Andy Baldwin, and chosen one Tessa Horst have put the brakes on their engagement, if only because the military man might be on the move. "We are very much in love and committed to our relationship," the couple says in a statement. "[But] with the possibility of reassignment to a new location, we decided it was not the ideal time for Tessa to uproot herself and move out [to Hawaii] right now. Our relationship continues to deepen, and we're very hopeful about our future together."Speaking of halted altar runs, House costars Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer have ended their own engagement. (Yes, the InStyle Weddings curse continues. It's frightening, really.) See the TV Guide News Report for more. read more

April 16, 2007: Let the Mudslinging Begin!

When I heard that the ladies were going to take part in a mini boot camp tonight, I was fully expecting to see them have to sweat it out on a tough obstacle course. Somehow, I think they got off a little easy. Well, maybe not all of them. Bevin did take a nasty spill during the tire drill and managed to fracture her ankle. Luckily for her, Andy wasn't far from the scene and was able to swoop in and save the day. OK, so he didn't really save the day, but he did initiate the call for an ambulance, and Bevin did score a rose out of the deal. Come to think of it, she also became the lucky recipient of a fancy watch, courtesy of Andy. OK, I don't feel so badly for her anymore.Once the ambulance left, the drills were over and the remaining ladies retreated to the house. It was there that Chris Harrison informed them that there would be two group dates this week and one two-on-one date. The latter date would end in one woman receiving a rose, while the other would be sent packing.Things go... read more

April 9, 2007: The Bachelor Bubble

This week, the remaining 15 ladies moved into the mansion together and, in my opinion, they have now officially entered into "The Bachelor Bubble." By that I mean, when they are not on a date with Andy, they are essentially cut off from the outside world. At the mansion, the women are not allowed to read books or magazines, watch TV or even listen to the radio. As we were told, that stuff makes for dull TV and I would agree. Already, we can see that the tension is building. And with hidden microphones in almost every room of the house, you won't miss a thing.A group date to the Sunset Strip kicked things off tonight. Andy and seven of the women hopped on a bus and took in the sights before taking turns riding a mechanical bull at a local bar. Tessa was the first one to fall off the bull and feign an injury, in an attempt to get Andy to rush to her side. It worked, but I think Andy was more impressed by Stephanie W., who managed to hang on the entire ride and not fall off. The firs... read more
