The Bachelor Episode Recap: Week 1 Season 15, Episode 1

Welcome back to another season of The Bachelor where the lucky guy this year is a familiar face — Brad Womack. Now I'm sure a bunch of you are skeptical about this season, as am I, but the more I've spoke to Brad himself and host Chris Harrison, the more I think we're in for a fun ride. Hope you'll join me!

The season begins with Chris reminding us (and I'm sure it won't be the last time) how much of a jerk Brad was when he dumped both Jenni and DeAnna during his season finale. "What in the hell have I done?" he asked himself as soon as he got home. Turns out he was a big old commitmentphobe with some Daddy issues that have scarred him thus far. A shirtless Brad ponders the last few years and shares his desire to move forward.

We meet some of the women competing this season and the first is a dancing dentist named Ashley H. from Philly. Another Ashley is introduced and she's a Southern girl living in the Big Apple. Manscaper Raichel has a "cheeky" profession (if you know what I mean) and Madison has fangs. Yes, fangs. More on her later. Finally, we meet Emily, an event planner who lost her fiancé in a plane crash and then learned she was pregnant shortly after. Southern Ashley and Emily will definitely be ones to watch.

Before Brad can meet the contestants, he must come face to face with Jenni and DeAnna. A surprised Brad probably wants to kill Chris for this one, but he's also very upfront about what he did. He says he's sorry that he wasn't capable of being who they needed and both women share their concerns about him being chosen as the Bachelor. But hey, what do they care? They're both engaged!

Time for Brad to meet the ladies, the first of which is slap-happy Chantal. Alli follows her sentiment by saying, "I know America hates you ..." Ashley S. proves to be a lot less innocent than she looks. She gives Brad a hug and big butt squeeze! When Meghan comes out, he tells her that he likes her ginormous pink platform shoes. So now we know Brad has bad taste. Jackie makes him pinky swear he won't break her heart (I love pinky swears!) and Lisa M sports some bright ruby slippers because, you guessed it, she's from Kansas.

Right away, Brad tells the women that he's a changed man and gives them a chance to leave if they want. Nobody does, but a lot of the women do ask about his previous season. During the cocktail hour there is a ton of back-and-forth stealing of Brad's time, and it's really to the detriment of the women who end up with about 30 seconds with him.

And then there's Madison and her fangs. She's so strange about them, and keeps trying to act mysterious rather than talking about why she has them. Brad gets a weird vibe as well and tells her that he gets the feeling it's all a game to her, but she swears she's not there to mess around.

The first impression rose comes to play and I'm not surprised when it goes to Ashley S. If history repeats itself, she'll get pretty far, just as Roberto did after receiving Ali's first impression rose (they're now engaged) and Tenley did after receiving Jake's (she was the runner up).

The 20 women to receive a rose are: Ashley S., Ashley H., Madison, Chantal, Emily, Jackie, Shawntel, Raichel, Marissa, Michelle, Keltie, Alli, Stacey, Kimberly, Britt, Melissa, Sarah P., Lisa M., Meghan and Lindsay.

What did you think of the premiere? Do you like Brad's picks? Are you happy he's the Bachelor?

Premise: True love (or a TV facsimile thereof) gets the reality treatment in this long-running dating game, in which a successful bachelor romances a number of beauties. The list of possible paramours is reduced each week until he gives a final red rose to one of them. The series spun off 'The Bachelorette', a spate of rip-offs and very few lasting pairings.
