Josh Henderson, Desperate Housewives
ABC's Desperate Housewives doesn’t return for another month yet (Sept. 24), but already there is buzz surrounding the new bad boy who will give Season 3 some extra sizzle. Josh Henderson, best known for his tour of duty on FX's Over There, is joining the sudser as Austin, Edie's naughty nephew. TVGuide.com grabbed a few minutes with the Wisteria Lane newcomer — and the rockin' ex-beau of Ashlee Simpson, at that — to preview the hijinks ahead.

Melissa McGhee, American Idol
Melissa McGhee got cut on Wednesday night's American Idol, but not before belting out a flub-free version — alas, one cut short by trigger-happy Fox affiliates in many markets — of Stevie Wonder's "Lately" as the end credits rolled. The Tampa native can't help but feel that her previous slipups (she botched the lyrics in rehearsal and onstage Tuesday night) begot her booting. "I think it weighed a lot on the actual decision," she tells TVGuide.com, adding with a chuckle, "America's not that forgiving!" Somewhere, Ashlee Simpson is saying, "Amen."
Saturday Night LiveAnother really funny episode — I'm shocked! My first thought during Jack Black's opening singalogue was that the Tenacious D. front man was missing his other half: Kyle Gass. But turns out that J.B. didn't forget his friend just because he's all famous and in that big ape movie now, K.G. just made his appearance during the spelling-bee sketch. Who knew you could even think of spelling business with more than 15 Qs? Other funny things? TV Funhouse's Christmas Eve for the Jews: The claymation piece had me laughing out loud with the line about finally seeing Fiddler with a Jewish cast. The Stuart Little "humane" mousetraps freaked me out. And the wind tunnel was especially humorous if you've ever actually been to that Sbar
Ashlee Simpson was hospitalized after a Thursday-night performance in Tokyo. Per US Weekly, Simpson had just performed the single "Boyfriend" for MTV Japan when she told the audience she felt sick; moments later, she collapsed in an elevator. Simpson's rep confirmed her hospitalization to the Associated Press but offered no additional details. And... I shall leave it at that. (Paying attention, Santa?)
Brace yourselves: Another Simpson is about to get the MTV-reality treatment. As previously reported, Jessica's 19-year-old actress sis, Ashlee — who plays Cecilia on WB's 7th Heaven — has landed a six-episode series that will chronicle the writing and recording of her as-yet-untitled debut rock album.
Premiering in June, Ashlee was pitched to MTV by manager dad Joe Simpson, who saw it as an opportunity for the actress-singer to break out of her famous older sister's shadow. "I knew people were going to say she got her record deal just because she's Jessica's sister," he says. "I wanted people to see Ashlee's the real deal."
While the cable network bit, Ashlee herself proved a tougher sell. "I was sort of anti-reality because my sister has her show," the younger Simpson admits. "But it's cool because it's the first time people will really get to see the real me."
