May 21, 1955 Season 3 Episode 5

It becomes apparent that Editor Perry White of the Metropolis Daily Planet is suffering from confusion and hallucinations on the eve of an important gangster trial in which he is the prosecution's key witness. This poses a problem that Superman is called on to settle in, "Great Caesar's Ghost." Superman is played by George Reeves and Editor White by John Hamilton. Also seen are Noel Neill as Lois Lane, Jack Larson as Jimmy Olsen and Robert Shayne as Police Inspector Henderson. The editor's office staff attributes White's strange behavior to overwork until he begins to hear unearthly voices. When he believes he has had a visit from Julius Caesar's ghost, Superman springs into action. Superman must first save his distraught chief from falling to his death from a plane in which he is flying home for a rest. Next the "Man of Steel" disguises himself as the ghost of the dead gangster leader about whose death Editor White is to testify. Superman has decided the way to beat a phony ghost, one which has been relying on bribed servants and recorded noises, is to use even more impressive sound recordings. Superman's ruse is completely successful--not only in routing the evildoers, but in restoring Editor White to complete mental health.

Superman Week

May 14, 1955 Season 3 Episode 4

While everyone is making extensive plans to celebrate "Superman Week" it is discovered, at the climax of the thrilling half hour drama, that Sy Horton's mob has learned the secret of Kryptonite, the only element in the entire Universe that can deprive Superman of his powers. Jimmy Olsen, the youthful reporter on the Daily Planet, let the secret slip out while under the influence of a truth drug forced upon him by Horton and Horton's crooked companion, Matthew Tips. Worse, he also revealed the location of some of the metal, encased in lead pipe at the bottom of the bay. Luckily, Clark Kent, who is in reality Superman disguised as a mild mannered Daily Planet reporter, gets wind of Jimmy's alarming revelation and prepares to confound the gangsters. Superman substitutes a harmless metal, which he permits Horton and Tips to steal. After they believe Superman has been bested, he captures them in the act of breaking into a safety vault. Superman Week is a great success, though Lois Lane and Jimmy are nonplussed to discover Superman and Clark Kent both apparently appearing on the TV stage -- at the same time.

The Lucky Cat

May 07, 1955 Season 3 Episode 3

The doings of the Anti Superstition Society and the strange behavior of Mr. Botts, owner of an eerie, isolated, old house in which the club meets, attract the attention of Daily Planet reporters, who smell a story. When it becomes apparent that an attempt is being made to injure certain members of the Society who flaunt their con-tempt for commonly held superstitions, suspicion points to Mr. Botts. Superman saves members from injury when the house's underpinnings are sawed through and rescues Charlie King when his munitions factory is set afire. Although the police are stumped and inclined to blame Mr. Botts, Superman ingeniously traps Charlie King into confessing his guilt. The cat helps Superman prove his case.
