Reader's Jeer of the Week: Miley's Poor Choice

Miley Cyrus by Miranda Penn Turin/Fox

Posted by kgirlie22...Jeers to Miley Cyrus hosting the Teen Choice Awards. She should have stuck to singing, as her opening performance of "7 Things" was actually enjoyable. Her skills as a host are poor, with her usual likability completely absent. In fact, when shown with "The Miley and Mandy Show" co-host Mandy, she was downright annoying.• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Top 4 Moments from Teen Choice Awards

The Jonas Brothers at the Teen Choice Awards by Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com

The following is a special entry written exclusively by TVGuide.com's teen correspondents, the Santry Sisters. Katie and Karleigh are the creators of JonasBrothersFan.com, the No. 1 Jonas Brothers and Camp Rock fansite. With flying brothers, objectionable winners, epic dance battles and, of course, awards in the form of surfboards, the 2008 Teen Choice Awards was definitely one to be remembered. From start to finish, it was filled with funny, awkward and crazy moments that made it hard for us to name our favorite — so we thought we'd narrow it down to our top four favorite moments.4) Miley Cyrus' Performance: The Hannah Montana star pulled double duty this year — hosting the tenth annual event and providing the entertainment as well. Miley kicked off the show with a bang, performing her latest hit, "7 Things," from her No. 1 album, Breakout. The crowd was having a blast, and Miley really got into the song, often popping in on her celebrity friends, including fellow Disney s... read more

VIDEO: What Would Dwight Schrute Watch?

Yes, Dwight Schrute watches television — and he's got a lot of opinions about it. At the Teen Choice awards, Schrute's real-life alter ego, Rainn Wilson, divulged what his Office character would tune into, and it's not all sci-fi (though Battlestar Galactica is, of course, on the list). According to Wilson, Schrute opts for anything about bears and for the manlier programs out there, much like Michael Scott might. read more

Miley Cyrus: She Sings, She Hosts, She Dances

Miley Cyrus at The 2008 Teen Choice Awards courtesy Fox

It wasn't enough that Miley Cyrus hosted Teen Choice 2008 — she also led her dance crew to a victory over Step Up 2 star Adam Sevani's dancers. After months of YouTube battles, Cyrus' M&M Cru and Sevani's ACDC met in a dance-off that featured huge numbers of people on stage, simultaneous flips and jumps and hot hip-hop solos. The M&M Cru's extravaganza kicked off just like many of the Miley and Mandy YouTube videos, with the two girls seated in the audience and chit-chatting into the mic. But at Miley's cue, they bounded up on to the stage and her team started a high-energy, pop-inspired routine that seemed endless. The crowd, hyped up by Cyrus throughout the show, was practically unruly with excitement up until the last moment, when LL Cool J arrived on stage to add his rhymes to the mix. ACDC's act, meanwhile, kicked off with a surprise of its own when Sevani was lowered onto the stage by a rope, arriving to the cheers of fans in a Michael Jackson-style military jacke... read more

Miley vs. Will Smith: Prepping a Teen Choice Dance-off?

Miley Cyrus by Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images

Will Miley Cyrus be going up against Will Smith in a dance-off at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards? The pop star, who's also hosting the awards, has been engaged in an ongoing, YouTube-fueled dance battle with her best pal, Mandy Jiroux, against actor-dancer Adam Sevani and his Step Up 2 director, Jon M. Chu. Now, Sevani suggests that Will Smith may get into the act during Sunday's show. "Will Smith is so cool," Cyrus' 15-year-old dance nemesis told E!. "I wanted to use him for our [Teen Choice] performance, but I don't know if he's gonna be here."While Smith's participation isn't certain, the Sunday dance battle is definitely going down. Sevani's team (ACDC) and Cyrus' (M&M Cru) have been bringing celebs from Lindsay Lohan to Adam Sandler in for their YouTube videos — so Sunday's segment will likely have its surprises. For his part, though, the only thing on Sevani's mind is victory. "We're going to just murder them," he promised. "Single-handedly!" — Anna Dimond read more

Teen Choice Awards Add Social Responsibility to Mix

The Teen Choice Awards — that summer kudosfest with surfboards for trophies — honors the stars that teens dig the most. This year, though, the annual Fox event will be honoring more than fame with the brand-new "Do Something" category. According to the Awards website, the new category will "recognize a young non-celebrity leader who is devoted to making a positive impact on social issues." All nominees are under 25 and the winner will receive $100k for their project. With self-started initiatives such as the Mali Health Organizing Project, the nominated teens and young adults collectively make the rest of us seem apathetic in comparison — perhaps just the viewer inspiration that an awards show needs. The Awards air Monday, Aug. 4 (8 pm/ET, Fox). — Anna Dimond read more
