Episode Synopsis: A profile of 29-year-old L.A. Philharmonic music director Gustavo Dudamel, whose passion for music was fostered by El Sistema, an intensive music-education program in his native Venezuela. The report also examines El Sistema-like programs in the U.S., including the Abreu Fellows program at the New England Conservatory in Boston and the Dudamel-championed Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, which is building youth orchestras in underserved L.A. communities.
