Survivor's Jerri Sounds Off

Survivor's Most Valuable Villainess, Jerri Manthey, entered All-Stars a changed woman — and it showed. Save for a few anti-Colby outbursts, the 33-year-old Surreal Life grad was a shockingly low-key version of the cunning predator she "played" on Australian Outback. But in the end, the good-girl routine brought her no closer to landing the $1-million grand prize. (There's a lesson in there somewhere... ) Anyway, TV Guide Online caught up with Jerri following her ouster Thursday night and grilled her about Colby, that startling 'tude makeover and her new role as musician. TV Guide Online: Was the softer Jerri just a game plan?Jerri Manthey: It definitely was part of my strategy to keep my mouth shut. Basically, it was coming from the way I was perceived [on Outback] and the harsh feedback I got from the public. But because of that experience, a lot of things in my life changed. I was kind of a controlling person an read more

Survivor's Ethan Ejected

Cute guys are dropping like flies on Survivor: All-Stars. Seems it's all thanks to one man, Lex. Mogo Mogo's tattooed tribesman schemed for Colby's ouster last week, then preyed on pal Ethan Zohn. Lex insisted his anti-Ethan vote was "only business," but Zohn sees it a bit differently. Here, the Survivor: Africa winner — who used his $1 million to start a soccer-oriented AIDS charity — tells TV Guide Online about Lex's betrayal, his lazy tribemates and Rob and Amber's reality TV romance. TVGO: Are you mad at Lex? Ethan Zohn: [Sighs] Am I mad at Lex? While I was out there, I was a little mad at Lex, but now everything's fine. We are friends and buddies. Basically, we differed in opinion. Lex wanted me to go and I wanted to stay. TVGO: He said not to take it personally — but how can you do that?Etha read more

Survivor's Colby Crushed

Colby Donaldson thought his leadership ability and winning smile could score him victory on Survivor: All-Stars. He also thought he'd persuaded the Mogo Mogo tribe to eject his Australian Outback nemesis, Jerri. The 29-year-old Texan thought wrong. The conniving witch from The Surreal Life successfully schemed with Lex to eject Colby instead! Oh, well. At least he's got that ad campaign for Schick razors to console him. Here, Donaldson talks to TV Guide Online about his ouster, that inflated ego and his efforts to break into acting. TVGO: Were you surprised that Lex turned on you?Colby Donaldson: I knew I was going to be a target. I just didn't realize that I was going to be executed so quickly. I didn't see it coming — the logic didn't make sense to me to start eliminating the strength of a tribe so soon. A lot of people think that Lex made a great move by getting rid of me, and indeed, he did dupe me. read more

Why Sue Quit Survivor

After an uncomfortably close encounter with Richard Hatch — who rubbed up against her while nude — Sue Hawk walked off Survivor: All-Stars in last week's episode. Her emotional outburst was surprising, since she initially seemed to laugh off what happened. Here, the mouthy 42-year-old former trucker tells TV Guide Online why she left, her reaction to Tom's celebratory song and dance over her departure and whether rumors of litigation are true. TVGO: Did you watch your final episode?Sue Hawk: No, I didn't. TVGO: You weren't comfortable watching? Hawk: There was no way. I didn't want to go back to that place. I've worked so hard to get in front of that. TVGO: Did you discuss the incident with your husband?Hawk: Yeah. My husband supported what I did 100 percent. He's been a t read more

Gay Survivor's Nude Attitude

Original Survivor winner Richard Hatch collected the game's first million. He also made history as the first openly gay contestant and the first one to go nude on camera. Speaking of personal firsts, the crafty 42-year-old has finally learned how it feels to get your torch snuffed! Here, he tells TV Guide Online about getting "bamboozled" on All-Stars, biting that shark, rubbing Susan Hawk the wrong way and stripping naked. TVGO: You scored by scheming in the first Survivor. Did they see you coming this time?Richard Hatch: Whoops! They got me. I didn't engender enough trust in the people that I was trying to make an alliance with. I got outsmarted this time. I had a big old target on my back. I think [with me] being the original winner, and people having watched how I talked about it afterward, they were ready to take me down read more

Survivor Rob's Game Over

Scheming, strategizing and cracking wise carried Rob Cesternino to third place in Survivor: The Amazon. But his game was off on Survivor: All-Stars, where the Chapera tribe ousted him. Here, Cesternino tells TV Guide Online about Boston Rob's betrayal, life in cramped quarters with a certain canoodling couple and his hopes for a future in reality TV. TVGO: In the Amazon, you were everywhere. We barely saw you on All-Stars. What happened?Rob Cesternino: I just thought if I kept out of trouble and didn't bother anybody, they wouldn't come after me. That works on a regular Survivor, but when you play the game like I played it in the Amazon, people aren't going to forget about it too easily. TVGO: Did the Chapera tribe see you as a quiet threat?Cesternino: Even though read more

Survivor's Jenna M. on Quitting

In a memorable Survivor: All Stars twist, 22-year-old Jenna Morasca made the tough decision to leave the game. She felt the need to see her mother, who'd been battling breast cancer and had taken a turn for the worse. Sadly, Morasca's mother passed away just eight days after she returned home. Here, TV Guide Online talks to this Survivor: The Amazon winner about quitting the game, fellow castaway reactions and — just to keep the mood light — Richard Hatch's nudity. TV Guide Online: Were you pleased with how your last episode turned out? Jenna Morasca: Yeah. I was really impressed. I think it really, really got across the emotions that we all were feeling that day. The kind of somber sadness and emotions like, "Yeah, we're playing a game, but this read more

Survivor's Rudy Admits Error

Survivor: All-Stars may actually live up to its hype as the most cutthroat edition ever. After eliminating past winner Tina Wesson, the female Saboga tribemates preyed on the elderly by taking out Survivor's oldest player ever, Rudy Boesch. The 76-year-old former Navy SEAL made it to the final three in the very first game, but here, his torch was swiftly snuffed once he injured his ankle. "I didn't expect to go that quick," Boesch sighs to TV Guide Online. "I think it was because I was actually holding that tribe back. I would have done the same thing if I was in their shoes." That's quite a change of tune from his final on-air remarks. He threatened the backstabbing duo of Jerri and Jenna L., issuing the warning, "If I was them... I'd stay clear of me." The curmudgeon even went so far as to suggest that read more

Survivor's Tina: ''I Don't Hate Jerri!''

Survivor: The Australian Outback champ Tina Wesson may have outlasted the competition Down Under, but her big victory proved an even bigger handicap on Survivor: All-Stars. The 42-year-old mother of two was the first to have her torch snuffed Sunday night. "It is one of those things where if I was there one day or the full 39, I was going to get the most out of it," Wesson tells TV Guide Online. "I had a great time. Of course, I wish it was longer. But as soon as I was asked [to participate], I was like, 'I'm going to have this big target on me, but if you are willing to pay for a trip to Panama, I'm in.' "When I saw who was on my team I went, 'Oh, boy, I am in trouble,'" she continues. "I knew immediately that I would be the first to go." But contrary to Jerri's assertion in the premiere, Wesson was not upset to find the Outback vamp among her All-Star tribe mates. "I do n read more

Survivor's Big Showdown

Survivor: All-Stars kicks off Sunday on CBS, right after Super Bowl XXXVIII. Which TV event will be the bigger showdown, we wonder? Well, since most of the 18 all-stars fancy themselves "celebrities," we're guessing their egos dwarf any player on the New England Patriots or Carolina Panthers. Still, just 'cause their 15 minutes will be extended, don't expect these castaways to get the star treatment on Survivor. Executive producer Mark Burnett denies cash was used to entice Rich Hatch and Co. back to the show. "There are no appearance fees," he says. "There's just prize money... I'm not sure we're disclosing how much they win." The all-stars will also have no celeb accommodations while duking it out in the great outdoors. "We kicked their ass," Burnett boasts. "They showed up with a machete [and had] no fire. They couldn't drink the water. It really was very, very hard." "This is the harde read more
