Survivor: Nicaragua Recap: "Not Sure Where I Stand" Season 21, Episode 12

Now that this season's most disgraceful players have quit the game, it's time for the final seven castaways to shift their strategizing into high gear and secure themselves a shot at that million dollar grand prize. Two clear-cut alliances have formed: Dan, Benry and Fabio (all Marty's leftover allies) and Chase, Jane and Holly. Sash is suddenly the wild card and swing vote, but his indecision and generally untrustworthy personality makes it hard for either alliance to commit to him. Sash even admits to Fabio, Benry and Chase that he is going to play his hidden immunity idol at the next Tribal Council to clear the air and not be seen as a threat. Sash also strikes a deal with Chase that if he wins the next reward challenge, he will take both Holly and Sash along with him.

At the reward challenge, players must race through an obstacle course containing previous challenges from the season, such as the mud pit and beanbag toss onto a barrel. The field is whittled down over a series of three rounds until it gets to Chase and Benry, who must search for three rope rings in a sandbox with a paddle and toss them onto hooks. Chase dominates and wins easily, but when Jeff asks him who he wants to take along with him to his private resort reward, he chooses both of his alliance members, Holly and Jane.

Sash is hurt and betrayed, and Chase realizes what a stupid move he made later at the reward by not only securing Sash in his alliance, but also giving Sash alone time with the three other players to strategize against him. Luckily for Chase, Sash is perhaps one of the worst strategizers in Survivor history. When he approaches Benry, Fabio and Dan, he asks to get their feelings on an alliance without a firm commitment. Dan calls out Sash for not being true to their alliance, and the three guys reconsider siding with Sash because of the way he's played the game by throwing friends like Brenda under the bus.

When Chase, Holly and Jane return from their reward, Jane is devastated to discover that the rest of the tribe ate the last remaining chicken. Chase approaches Sash and admits he made a mistake by not taking him on the reward, but also argues that he trusts Sash enough to leave him at camp with the other alliance and not worry. Sash appears to accept this apology, and Holly joins in the conversation to discuss who will be the voted out from the other alliance. They settle on Fabio, and even Benry says he supports voting out a member of his alliance if that means it will keep him in the game that much longer.

At the immunity challenge, players are attached to a rope and must untangle themselves using the right amount of rope to reach a bag of coins. The first three players to reach the coins move onto the final puzzle, which involves correctly stacking coin blocks in a box. Fabio, Benry and Sash move into the final round, and Benry almost immediately gives up in frustration. Sash ultimately wins immunity, which gives him the luxury of not having to use his hidden immunity idol this week.

Before Tribal Council, Benry, Dan and Fabio still believe Sash is on their side, and Benry and Dan still think the plan to vote out Fabio is happening. They tell Fabio their target is Holly, which Fabio buys into. However, at Tribal Council, Sash reveals his true alliance when he joins Chase, Holly and Jane in blindsiding Benry. And with Fabio still in the game, he now knows his own alliance of Benry and Dan voted against him, so it will be interesting to see where his loyalties will lie when the tribe returns to camp.

What did you think about last night's episode? Who do you think has the worst strategy in the game: Sash or Chase?
