Supernatural Episode Recap: "The Man Who Knew Too Much" Season 6, Episode 22

While Dean was at the heart of "Let it Bleed," the second half of Supernatural's two-hour finale mainly has to do with Sam and the Cas/Purgatory situation. In "The Man Who Knew Too Much," we find out how Sam's wall finally comes tumbling, crumbling down and what that actually means. We also learn, once again, how holding too much power is never a good thing. At the end of the episode, Cas reaches a whole new plane of existence. I'm still trying to process this development. I was pretty much stunned silent after watching the shocking moment that ended the episode... read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "Let It Bleed" Season 6, Episode 21

The two-hour Season 6 finale of Supernatural begins with Dean's worst nightmare when Ben and Lisa are kidnapped. So, while the Team Free Will trio of Dean, Sam and Bobby are trying to figure out a way to stop Cas and Crowley from opening up the gates of Purgatory, the oldest Winchester has to take care of this latest wrinkle. How far does he go to save his family? Will Cas be a help or a hindrance? More importantly, what does Dean do to ensure Lisa and Ben never have to face a danger like this again? Yes, Dean's worst nightmare is resolved, but with one hell of a heartbreaking ending... read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "The Man Who Would Be King" Season 6, Episode 20

We finally hear and see the story of Season 6 from Castiel's perspective -- how he came to work with Crowley; started a civil war; and how Sam got out of hell. Even though he's talking to God, Cas is pretty much pleading his case to the Supernatural viewers. It's a tough spot the angel of the Lord is in; and by the end of the hour I'm not sure he fully explained why it was OK to resort to working with a demon who basically made life hell for the Winchesters for much of the season.... read more

Supernatural Recap: "Mommy Dearest" Season 6, Episode 19

Thanks to their excellent "Frontierland" adventure, Sam and Dean have the ashes of a phoenix at their disposal. All they need to do is find the Mother of All (aka Eve) and gank her. They track her down to a town where she's infected some of the residents. While the members of Team Free Will finally meet Eve, it turns out she's not really the problem. She's small potatoes. A huge revelation puts Castiel's motives in question big time.

I don't know about you guys but Cas working with Crowley is something I'm still trying to process. Of all the things the angel has been hiding from the boys, I really never thought this would be it. You know I love me some Crowley and Mark A. Sheppard something fierce. And the show did a good job of keeping this little ditty under wraps. I'm just not quite sure how I feel about Crowley being a bigger factor in this season than we thought. So, I guess Cas is willing to work with Crowley -- the King of Hell -- in order to defeat Raphael's side in their angelic civil war? Is it all about getting the juice from the souls and garnering enough power to defeat the other side? read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "Frontierland" Season 6, Episode 18

Thanks to Cas, Sam and Dean hit the way back machine and travel back to Sunrise, Wyoming in 1861. They have 24 hours to find a phoenix that'll help rid the world of the Mother of All. Cue the Bonanza-esque open; Western-style music serenading the jump back in time; and fanboy Dean. Plus, Sam gets to track down the Samuel Colt, maker of the gun that has meant so much to this show's mythology over the years. Cas and Bobby are integral to the boys' excellent adventure as well.

After "Weekend at Bobby's" and "The French Mistake," this is the episode I've been waiting and waiting for and it doesn't disappoint on any level. It has mythology, humor (a million hilarious lines), a monster-of-the week that I liked even though it once again took... read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "My Heart Will Go On" Season 6, Episode 17

The long hell-atus is finally over with an episode that explores a reality where the Titanic never sank. This means 50,000 descendants are now living their lives; Sam and Dean do not drive around in the Impala; and Ellen is alive and well and married to Bobby. Sounds all kinds of crazy, but it works.

Hey everybody -- welcome back! We're in the home stretch. "My Heart Will Go On" is the first of six Supernatural episodes to end Season 6. It's a good episode to kick things off with. (I think originally it was intended to be the second one back from break.) It deals with a seriously bitter Fate (well, one of the sisters anyway) and a sort of Final Destination-type storyline. read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "And Then There Were None" Season 6, Episode 16

The Mother of All finally strikes, leaving several casualties in her wake, including a few hunters. Her weapon of choice? Some sort of mind-control ear worm thing. Consider "And Then There Were None" as part Agatha Christie mystery set in the supernatural world and part Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Remember that parasite that got Chekov? Yeah, this was a lot like that. Very creepy. In the end, we had to say goodbye to three hunters. While I loved this episode, I have mixed feelings about the losses.

Before I get into the hunter deaths and the mystery-of-the-week, I have to lead off with an observation: Sam and Dean have their mojo back.... read more

Supernatural Episode Recap: "The French Mistake" Season 6, Episode 15

Sam and Dean were thrust into a not-so-brave new world that turned out to be an alternate reality in which they're mistaken for actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

"The French Mistake" was an episode I really had to watch more than once. This highly anticipated super-meta event was hilarious; it shattered the fourth wall; it set up story; but most of all, it showcased some of the great talent this show has to offer. I liked the heightened versions of Jensen, Jared and Misha (well, I assume they were heightened versions). But I also think the real-life actors did a great job with this wild alternate universe that only writer-executive producer Ben Edlund could have created. Seriously, how does he come up with this stuff? I'm still wondering what inspired him to write a giant, talking, suicidal teddy bear into Season 4's "Wishful Thinking."

For a longtime fan like me, this episode was especially entertaining.Let me preface things by saying this is the only show where I can not only name the actors in the cast; but the creator, the writers, some of the producers, directors and the director of photography. If you tell me the name of the episode, there's a good bet I can tell you the season (and the writer). These are the kinds of fans that are into this show. And I felt like we were rewarded for being such loyal Supernatural viewers.

The action kicked off when ... read more

Supernatural: "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning" Season 6, Episode 14

In "Mannequin 3: The Reckoning," one of my favorite Supernatural titles of all time, it was all about facing the past. Sam continued to deal with the effects of his soulless past; a group of guys died because of what they did in their recent past; and Dean made a sudden road trip after his past came calling.

Right off the top, the show had to deal with the Great Wall of Sam. Sam had collapsed at the end of "Unforgiven." Things picked up right where we left off last week; he was on the floor suffering from sort of seizure and experiencing some sort of vision of hell. He was completely unresponsive for a few minutes while Dean frantically tried to get him to snap out of it. And then all of a sudden, the fire in his eyes receded and Sam was fine. What's up with that? Is each time he scratches the wall going to result in an episode like this? And will each episode result in him being out for longer periods of time? And how many times is this show going to play this card? It seems like this is going to be something that looms large for a while.

Supernatural Episode Recap: "Unforgiven" Season 6, Episode 13

In Season Four's "I Know What You Did Last Summer," we got a taste of what went down with Sam while his brother was in hell. "Unforgiven" was kind of like that. After all, we finally found out a little of what Robo Sam was up to for the year he was without Dean and was working with the Campbells. It wasn't pretty. Not even a little bit.
