A Darker Superman Flies into Stores

Adam Baldwin and Superman: Doomsday

This is definitely not Super Friends. The animated DVD movie Superman: Doomsday, which goes on sale today, tells the famous 1992 comic-book story that saw the Man of Steel die in battle against an intergalactic killing machine. Unlike previous Superman cartoons, Doomsday features extreme violence (but very little blood) and presents a darker take on the world's most iconic superhero. Also a more adult one: In this movie he's carrying on a romantic relationship with Lois Lane, which the couple is hiding from the press. When he won't reveal his secret identity to her, Lois accuses him of having commitment issues. That argument gets tabled when Doomsday — a monster who "lives to extinguish any and all life forms" — goes on a rampage through Metropolis and engages Superman in a battle to the death. Smallville: The Scoop on Jimmy Olsen!

Smallville's Aaron Ashmore

Chloe, according to lore, may never land the Man of Steel, but she just might woo his best friend. Aaron Ashmore (née the ex of Mars' Veronica, Troy Vandegraff) is joining CW's Smallville this season (premiering Sept. 28) as a semiregular, playing aspiring photojournalist Jimmy Olsen.

But wait, there's more. Read all about it: "He's going to be a love interest for Chloe," Ashmore confirms for TVGuide.com. "They met [off screen] a few summers ago, and now they're reconnecting."

Ashmore's boy-next-door looks make him a natural to play All-American Jimmy — even though he eerily resembles Smallville villain Eric Summers, who just happened to be played by Ashmore's real-lif read more

90210 Alumna Gives Us the Business

Kathleen Robertson, The Business

So what's it really like trying to produce an indie film on a shoestring budget, with underqualified/overinflated ego-wielding actors, frustrated writer-directors and a crazy, Japanese-spouting investor? The Business, premiering Friday, Aug. 4, at 11:30 pm/ET, picked up where IFC's The Festival left off, as writer-director Rufus Marquez (Nicholas Wright) struggles to get his low-budget thriller made by wannabe-legit smut-peddler Vic Morgenstein (Rob DeLeeuw). Hopefully saving everyone's bacon in this mess is Kathleen Robertson's Julia Sullivan, who quits her job at (wink-wink) IFC to give Vic a desperately needed assist. TVGuide.com got a hold of the 90210 alum and indie vet to mind her Business and get the scoop on her upcoming "dat read more

Will Cuddy Hook Up with House?

Lisa Edelstein, House

On TV, Lisa Edelstein has scored with everyone from George Costanza to Frasier Crane. Will Dr. House be next? TV Guide asked her about the Fox drama's second-season cliff-hanger, her party-girl past and more.

TV Guide: Right to it: Dr. Lisa Cuddy, your character on House [Tuesdays at 8 and 9 pm/ET], is looking for a sperm donor to have a baby, and House (Hugh Laurie) has been nixing all the anonymous donors. Will she ask him to donate?

Will Hurricane Howie Hit Big Brother?

Will Howie Gordon make the Big Brother 7: All-Stars cut?

CBS' Big Brother 7: All-Stars is about to begin, and the 20 potential housemates are out campaigning like crazy — perhaps none more so than "Hurricane" Howie Gordon. The self-proclaimed Jedi and former weatherman who breezed through the first half of Big Brother 6 desperately wants a chance to blow away audiences with his humor once again. Today is the last day that fans can vote at CBS.com for their favorites. (The viewers' top six will be combined with the producers' favorite six, and the chosen dozen will enter the house on July 6.) On the show Knight Rider, ...

Rebecca Holden and David Hasselhoff, Knight Rider

Question: On the show Knight Rider, what did K.I.T.T. stand for?Answer: Why, he and partner/driver Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) stood for truth, justice and single-handedly lowering the auto-industry fleet's miles-per-gallon average by 10 miles or so. Weren't you watching? Actually, K.I.T.T. stood for Knight Industries Two Thousand, the model name for the superpowered, computer-sentient car built by dying rich guy Wilton Knight. The hit series ran on NBC from September 1982 to August 1986, and as fans will know, Knight rescued undercover cop Michael Young, who'd been shot in the face while on the job. He paid for his plastic surgery, giving Young a new mug and a new name (Knight, which smacked of some ego, I thought) in the process. Then he handed his creation the keys to K.I.T.T., a black Trans Am with a read more
