Jack Klugman, The Odd Couple and Quincy, M.E. Star, Dies at 90

Jack Klugman, best known for his role on The Odd Couple, has died. He was 90. 

Klugman died Monday afternoon in his Northridge, Calif., home, his son, Adam, told The Associated Press.

Born in Philadelphia, Klugman began acting after he was discharged from the Army in 1945. He started on the stage in a Broadway revival of Golden Boy in 1952 and eventually scored his first film role in 1957 as Juror No. 5 in the seminal Sidney Lumet film 12 Angry Men. read more

As the World Turns' Helen Wagner Dies at 91

Helen Wagner, best known for playing Nancy Hughes on As the World Turns for more than a half-century, has died. She was 91.

Wagner, who acted up until her death, died Saturday, the show's New York-based production company, TeleNext Media Inc., announced. She spoke the first words on As the World Turns when it premiered in 1956, and holds the Guinness World Record for playing the same role on television for the longest time (54 years). She was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2004.

Premise: A golden-age series of original live dramas and adaptations of classic works. The series, which earned numerous Emmys nominations during its 10-year run, won for Best Dramatic Show in 1952. `Studio One' creator and producer Worthington C. Miner encouraged innovation and creativity at all levels. Among its most memorable productions is the one that opened the 1954 season, `Twelve Angry Men,' which won Emmys for writing (Reginald Rose), directing (Franklin Schaffner) and acting (Robert Cummings).
