In the fall of 1992, a half-hour daily version of the show aired, in addition to the weekly hourlong program, and the title became `Ed McMahon's Star Search.' Years after the original had ended, and following the huge success of Fox's `American Idol,' CBS revived `Star Search' in January of 2003, with Arsenio Hall as host.

Despite being the guy who passes out million-dollar checks on peoples' doorsteps, Ed McMahon is fighting foreclosure on his own multimillion-dollar manse. The former Tonight Show sidekick and Star Search host had a default notice filed against him Feb. 28 after falling behind in $664,000 worth of mortgage payments, says Reuters.McMahon, 85, broke his neck 18 months ago and has not been able to pass out checks for American Family Publishers' sweepstakes, much less collect checks of his own. The good news, however, is that he may be able to work things out with his mortgage lender — but it's not yet clear if he and his wife can stay in their six-bedroom, five-bath house. The property, which sits atop Mulholland Drive, has been on the market for two years, for $6.25 mil. For some reason, we just can’t seem to get enough of David Archuleta. But if you thought this little guy has a ridiculous amount of talent now at the young age of 17, wait until you get a load of his voice before he hit puberty! Even before he trounced the competition on Star Search, vocalist Jake Simpson probably could have gotten anything he wanted. For Pete's sake, the guy looks like a mischievous altar boy and sings like an angel! So now that he has in hand his prize money, he ought to be buying Jags! Mansions! Towns! After years of virtual invisibility, Arsenio Hall is back in the TV game, hosting "not your father's" Star Search for CBS (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 pm/ET). And the 47-year-old ex-late nighter confesses that as far as gigs go, well, this one is a piece of cake. (No offense, Ed McMahon.)
