Produced by Jackie Gleason, this music showcase gave Elvis Presley his national TV debut on Jan. 28, 1956 (almost eight months before he appeared on `The Ed Sullivan Show'). Presided over by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, the series began as an hourlong summer replacement for `The Jackie Gleason Show,' and later ran as a 30-minute companion to `The Honeymooners.'
