Premise: A long-running music-and-dance series spotlighting R&B, soul and rap performers. This syndicated black version of `American Bandstand' has been a jumping-off point for learning new steps and features line dances, a scramble-board contest and artists lip-synching their latest hits. Many `Soul Train' regulars---including Jody Watley, Nick Cannon, Pebbles, Rosie Perez and Howard Hewitt---went on to bigger things. The show also spawned the highly regarded Soul Train Music Awards.
