Mega Buzz: Scandal's Misdirect, The Newsroom's New Outlook and a Sons Death?

Now that Jake has been arrested, please tell me that Olivia will finally find out that Rowan was behind Jerry's death on Scandal. — Denise

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that reveal is coming any time soon. "You always think it can't go on any longer, but they twist it in a way you didn't even think of," star Brian Letscher, who plays Tom, teases of the (inevitable?) reveal. "Rowan is a master manipulator .... and the ripple effects of Tom [saying Jake ordered him to kill Jerry] affect a lot of people in ways he never imagined."

Got anything about the final season of The Newsroom? — Ashley

The season premiere is set around the events of the Boston Marathon bombing and, owing to ACN's screw-up with the Operation Genoa story last season, everyone is appropriately gun shy about reporting the "facts" of the story too quickly...  Read Full Article

Critic's Notebook: Checking In On Flash, Jane, Forever, Sons

One of the trickier aspects of reviewing TV during a new fall season is judging series based solely on their pilot episodes. It's better to have more in advance, but not always an option. So while I was pleasantly surprised that two of my favorite new shows, The Flash and Jane the Virgin, were on The CW, I was also a bit nervous that they might not be able to sustain.

New Season Reviews: The Flash, Town of the Living Dead

"Awesome," says the Flash (aka Barry Allen, an adork-able CSI lab nerd), catching his breath after his first mad dash through Central City in fast-forward motion, giving new meaning to happy feet. "Woo-hoo!" he screams during his first supervised test run. "Cool," he reflects later upon his gift of speed, a sentiment echoed by his crime-fighting mentor Arrow, from whose show he is triumphantly spinning off. Couldn't agree more.

Question: Let me preface this by saying The Big Bang Theory is one of my favorite shows, and I have been with them since Day 1, but after watching the premiere episodes on the first Monday of the season, I see a very disturbing trend. Sheldon is rapidly becoming the next Fonzie/Urkel. In the early days of the show, Sheldon was odd but likeable, and you always rooted for him. Now as he is being written, he is becoming more and more obnoxious, as evidenced in the way he treated Amy and the others in the two episodes last week. When shows have a breakout star like Jim Parsons, that person becomes the go-to guy in almost every episode, at the expense of the remaining cast members. Am I wrong in my assessment, or do you think a little less Sheldon and maybe a little nicer Sheldon would be better for the show and the audience? — Terry

Sons of Anarchy: Walton Goggins Tells Us About That Kiss

Guess who's back?

Tuesday's episode of Sons of Anarchy featured the return of Venus Van Dam, the transgender escort played by Justified's Walton Goggins in each of the FX drama's last two seasons. But this time things went to a whole new level.

Sons of Anarchy: Walton Goggins on playing the softer side of Venus Van Dam

When Jax (Charlie Hunnam) needed to track down the wife of a preacher the club had killed, he called on Venus to help. (Turns out the dead man was one of Venus' frequent clients.) According to Goggins, coming back for Sons' final season was a no-brainer. "I look for any opportunity to put on high heels honestly," Goggins tells TVGuide.com with a laugh.... read more
