Premise: An endearingly nutty (and controversial for its time) soap-opera parody focusing on two sisters, Jessica and Mary, and their respective dysfunctional families. `Soap' offered an irreverent take on such subjects as adultery, homicide and homosexuality through the outrageous behavior of the upper-crust Tates and the blue-collar Campbells. The Susan Harris series received four Emmys, and launched a successful spin-off sitcom showcasing Robert Guillaume's character, Benson.
